At Magic Kingdom, we are seeing huge transformations. Construction is underway for the new Cars-themed area, Piston Peak, and the new Villains land. Several rides are currently under refurbishment, including Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. At Destination D23, we also got news that one of the most iconic pieces of this park will be seeing some updates in the future, and it has Disney fans talking about it!
Disney fans are buzzing with excitement over the news that Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will be repainted to return to its original color scheme. After several years of showcasing the rose-gold and blue accents introduced for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, readers overwhelmingly shared their enthusiasm for the castle going back to the look that many remember from their childhood. In fact, when we asked our readers how they felt, 99% of those who responded said they’re thrilled about the upcoming change. For many, the announcement represents more than a fresh coat of paint, but also a return to tradition.

Several readers echoed the same sentiment: “It’s going back to the way Walt intended.” While the rose-gold shimmer created a celebratory, modern flair, fans believe the original design best captures the spirit of Walt Disney’s vision and the timelessness of Magic Kingdom. One commenter summed it up perfectly: “Sad to see the rose gold go, but it will be the way Walt intended it and will bring back those childhood memories.” Clearly, nostalgia is playing a big role in the excitement.

Bring it back to the glory days!” While there’s no official word yet on when the repainting will begin or how long it will take, it’s safe to say that anticipation is high.
