Disney’s newest cruise ship is almost ready to set sail!

The Disney Cruise Line has spent the last several years working on expanding its fleet, and the newest addition is coming this November! The Disney Destiny is setting sail on November 20th, and along with it, we’re getting new bars, new room designs, and so much more. One thing we’ve been eagerly awaiting is the new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar, and we finally have a new look at what to expect.
In case you missed it, Disney is going Pirates crazy right now! The new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge in Magic Kingdom, the Beak and Barrel, just opened, and we have fallen in love. The new lounge has seriously raised our expectations for the upcoming bar onboard the Disney Cruise ship, aptly named the Cask and Cannon. During the recent Destination D23 event, we got a sneak peek at what the bar will look like.

The bar is “Inspired by the iconic characters and scenes from the beloved Disney Parks attractions around the world, the new pub will be an eclectic yet cozy watering hole furnished with treasures ‘acquired’ (read: pillaged and pilfered) during the pirates’ many voyages around the globe.” Inside, you can find several Easter Eggs inspired by the attractions. Disney has teased that the pub will be covered in wooden planks like a pirate ship, and it will be “outfitted with an eclectic mix of mismatched furniture and antiques.” Plus, there will be nautical nods and pirate iconography.

Disney shared that “Eagle-eyed fans will have much to discover in the intricate carvings framing the venue’s portholes,” along with nods to the burning village scene, and lanterns inspired by Disneyland Paris’s version of the ride. They also noted that there will be nods to the film, like the “stacked treasure chests that make up the bar front.”

There will also be “a set of thirteen drawers filled with treasure maps, each labeled with different scenes representing the global parks and attractions, including The Ghostly Grotto, Port Royale, Talking Skull Bay, Blue Bayou (California), and Treasure Cove (Shanghai).” How cool is that? They’ve also warned us to look up and down to uncover every design element because even the ceiling will feature a treasure map of the Caribbean Sea inspired by Marc Davis, a legendary Disney artist and animator.

Disney shared that his drawing has been modified for the bar, along with new additions, including 7 ships to represent the current number of ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet (including the Destiny). The carpet will also feature a design that has each of the pirate lords’ Pieces of Eight and Captain Jack Sparrow’s compass from the films.

Along with the new concept art, Disney also shared pictures of the new merchandise you can buy inspired by the bar! They teased a new pirate skull mug…

Disney did share that “pillaging is highly discouraged.” They shared that these will all be available while supplies last! Previously, Disney shared that you can catch your favorite game on the television in this spot, plus enjoy rare and specialty rums — and a “selection of ‘bootlegged’ brews developed specially for the venue and served straight from the barrel in true pirate style.”
