NEWS: Child Climbs Onto Monorail Track at Popular U.S. Theme Park in Pennsylvania

A scary incident at a popular U.S. theme park fortunately resulted in a happy ending.

According to multiple reports, a young boy was in serious peril after walking along a monorail track at Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark on Saturday, August 30th, 2025. The incident was caught on video and went viral.

Fortunately, the boy was saved, albeit after a terrifying scene. The video shared to social media depicts a child — who was reported missing around 5 PM ET — walking along the track of the Capital BlueCross Monorail attraction at least 20 feet off the ground.

As the staff was searching for the child, the boy wandered into a closed area and onto the ride’s track. The monorail was not in operation that day and was “safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile at the platform,” per a spokesperson for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

Staff immediately responded to the area after the boy was seen, and onlookers could be heard screaming and urging the child to follow a path that would get him off the monorail. When the child seemed confused and stopped, an onlooker climbed the roof of a nearby structure, got onto the monorail, and was able to corral the boy and take him to safety.

The child was not harmed and was reunited with his family. The company said, “We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark.”

This is just the latest incident to happen at Hersheypark. In July, a 9-year-old girl died of accidental drowning at Hershey’s The Boardwalk Water Park.
