As part of their Gold Member-exclusive Destination D23 event, Disney just revealed some blockbuster news about their upcoming slate of films!
Touching on every corner of the studio’s output — from Walt Disney Animation, Pixar, and Fox properties to gargantuan franchises like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe — the presentation gave its latest look at what to expect to see in theaters and beyond throughout the rest of 2025 and 2026.
Some of the most noteworthy NEW announcements made on the Studios panel include:
Hexed Revealed
A brand new feature from Disney Animation, this Fall 2026 film will follow “a teenage oddball and his mom, who discover his weirdness is actually hidden magic, transporting them to a world where magic can run free.”
During the presentation, the film’s new magical world was compared to those seen in previous Disney films like Encanto, and it was stated that the film will show that “What makes us feel different can be the best part of what makes us special.”

The Toys are Back in Town
During the Pixar portion of the panel, several announcements were made regarding the upcoming Toy Story 5. After having previously been confirmed as being part of the cast, Conan O’Brien was revealed to be voicing Smarty Pants, a potty training toy! In addition, a new sequence from the film — featuring a large group of Hi-Tech Edition Buzz Lightyears who still believe they’re Space Rangers stranded on an island — was previewed for the audience.
As part of the lead-up to the new film, scheduled for release on June 19th, 2026, as well as the 30th anniversary of the franchise, the original 1995 Toy Story will be returning to theaters on September 12th. In addition, it was announced that Buzz Lightyear, as well as Spider-Man and Minnie Mouse, would be returning to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in balloon form.

I never thought I’d think it let alone say it but I think I’ve outgrown Wdw and it’s time to part company. Or maybe they’ve forgotten their rich legacy, us baby boomers and ‘the greatest generations’ who made the company and decided not to bother with us anymore! With the possible exception of Hexed, I have zero interest in these announced movies. I also hate all the hotel upgrades and the ridiculous amount of destruction in the parks. Even when the parks were nice but crowded, we could enjoy the peaceful, relaxing ambience at the resorts and in other wdw spots but there’s little of that to be found anymore. Downtown Disney and formerly Pleasure Island….now Disney Spring…. was once filled with stores and fun places we loved but that’s headed toward ruin as well….assuming you don’t get run over by rude crowds while trying to meander. Our fave places to shop and most of our fave places to eat are gone (save T-Rex) or are so spread out we’re exhausted just trying to see it all. The bus stops are no longer easily accessible except at the far end of one side. Ditto the boat dock. I’m really not sure what Disney is thinking anymore or who they’re trying to please but the pixie dust is gone….along with Fastpass and Magical Express! Wdw, as an amusement park, may survive but it’s not Walt’s Disney anymore and it’s time we accept it 😞.
