Magic Kingdom‘s newest lounge, The Beak and Barrel, is now open!
The menu is full of a few snacks and multiple exclusive cocktails and mocktails, but what’s really impressed us is how many secrets and hidden details there are in here. There are so many you don’t want to miss, but these 8 secret details are our personal favorites!
If you get seated at the Captains’ Booths, check out all the details built right into the benches themselves! The end caps on the booths have unique artwork, because each booth is representative of a different pirate ideal: adventure, freedom, fortune, and unity.
Imagineers who worked on the lounge each have different favorite spots of the hand carved panels:
- David, the Story Lead Imagineer for The Beak and Barrel, loves Jack Sparrow’s battle with the Kraken
- Kelsey, Senior Interior Designer, loves the panel that’s full of riches
- Mackenzie, the Graphic Designer, loves the detailing of the Pirate Lords
- Jessica, the Interior Designer, loves the panel that depicts freedom aboard a ship
Also, don’t miss out on some of the treasures the pirates have looted and brought into the lounge.
Every 7-8 minutes there’s a new part of the lounge that comes to life too, so you never know what’s about to happen. Watch for Rummy, the iconic parrot, to make an appearance…
You’ll also want to watch the ships in bottles carefully to see them begin to fight each other. Yes, you’ll get to see a whole ship battle happen!
Take a close look at The Cursed Bar — there’s a special bottle of rum that a powerful Enchantress gifted Captain Merry, the creator of the pub. As long as the bottle stays full, the pub will never run out of drink!
In the main dining room, aka The Mess, be sure to look at the ship’s bell. Disney told us that that this bell was from Captain Redd’s first ship, gifted to Merry at the tavern’s founding. Some say they’re close friends, or perhaps fierce rivals.”
While you’re waiting for your food and drinks to arrive, don’t forget to laugh at the posters on the wall — talk about details!.
Over in the Map room, there’s a secret to be discovered by looking at the maps on the walls and map tools on the table. Can you figure it out! We’re certainly trying to!
