Magic Kingdom is making a historical change that could forever alter lounges at Disney World.
The Beak and Barrel is a NEW Pirates of the Caribbean-themed OPENING TODAY, August 29th, 2025, in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. The lounge’s opening is not only significant thanks to its theming, but, more so, the ramifications of becoming the FIRST lounge that sells alcohol at Magic Kingdom.
We’ve already visited The Beak and Barrel and can’t wait for you to do the same!
This lounge works a lot like Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, limiting parties to 45 minutes to combat the limited capacity while also capping off diners at 2 alcoholic beverages per person.
As for The Beak and Barrel’s offerings, you’ll find plenty of “tasty options for pirates of all ages — as well as refreshing cocktails for Guests ages 21 and up.” You can sip on some creative cocktails and munch on scrumptious buccanneer bites amid themed rooms, all “run by Captain Meridian ‘Merry’ Goldwyn, and her talkative first mate, Rummy.” Rummy is the tavern’s quartermaster bird, and he might even host a toast or two!
The Beak and Barrel is notable for more than just being a cool addition to Magic Kingdom. Up to this point, the park has ONLY served alcohol at table-service restaurants (Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, The Crystal Palace, The Diamond Horseshoe, Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, Liberty Tree Tavern, The Plaza Restaurant, and Tony’s Town Square Restaurant).
When Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, it held an alcohol-free policy. That policy remained until 2012, when Be Our Guest started offering wine and beer with dinner service. In 2014, more Magic Kingdom restaurants joined in and started selling beer and wine. By 2019, Magic Kingdom officially became the second Disney Park globally to offer alcohol at all table-service restaurants.
Still, Magic Kingdom has NOT offered any bars or lounges…until now. Breaking this barrier could be significant for Disney. The other parks offer some full bars and themed lounges such as Oga’s and Nomad Lounge. This is also a trend we’ve started to see on the Disney Cruise Line, such as the Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard the Disney Treasure (and soon aboard the Disney Destiny).
With Magic Kingdom finally catching up, could this signal EVEN MORE themed lounges coming to Disney locations? Magic Kingdom seemed like the last untouched frontier, but with The Beak and Barrel pioneering lounges at the park, endless possibilities have opened up.
We’re inclined to believe that more themed lounges are coming to Disney Parks and ships in the future. They’re incredibly popular, and already advanced dining reservations are recommended and hard to come by at The Beak and Barrel. This trend is clearly working for Disney, and the company has shown no signs of moving away from it.

We’re so excited to visit, and we’re so glad to hear that the lounge will be open during Halloween parties (hopefully that will still be true next year). You have likened this location to Oga’s, with the 45 minute time limit, but I have a different question about the likeness to Oga’s. It looks like there is plentiful and universal seating at this location – meaning that I don’t see the standing tables that feature so prominently at Oga’s, at least at the WDW Oga’s. Maybe they would entertain standing guests at the bar, but it looks like all other guests would be seated? So it wouldn’t be difficult or impossible to hold out for a seated spot (like it is at Oga’s)?
I am torn on this. I love the concept but do not like the idea of a bar with kids at Mk. I drink so my opposition is not because of abstinence however since Disney allowed booze at Mk I have not purchased any. That being said I will most likely partake here and feel guilty
Disney has to stop this make-big-bucks by selling alcohol notion. It’s bad enough Epcot has turned into ‘drunk around the world,’ as incidents of drunkenness & lewd behavior has risen. Fights in all Parks are already escalating. No one is monitoring the drinks served… Disney just keeps allowing more alcohol to be handed over for $$$. There’s got to be a way that Disney can track the sale of drinks thru the Magic Band. People are truly getting ‘ugly drunk,’ and now you’ve got a bar in the MK? Seriously? People can’t have fun without alcohol? I live in central FL with friends who work at Epcot. You canNOT leave Epcot with your drink. You either drink it or dump it. You’d be amazed at how many people get belligerent about that. It’s the alcohol lowering their inhibitions. Now the MK runs this risk? Poor judgment on Disney’s part. Monitor the drinks and limit the over serving of alcohol. Be responsible. Not everyone stays onsite and Disney risks a drunk driver leaving the Parks to drive on our FL roads. Trust me… it’s happened.
Sounds like a formula for trouble. You have enough trouble with people in the parks sometimes now lets add alcohol.
I think that there should not be more alcohol offered at Magic Kingdom.
Disney has decided to stop being Disney and start being a nondescript amusement park. That way the only “theme” is a land called “The Bottom Line.”
Oh, and P.S.
Everyone please remove the phrase “What would Walt do?” from any Disney related conversations.
It’s about time!!! I hope that parks follow with more spaces like GEO-82 that are 21 and up as well!!!
Not a fan! No need for bars in Magic Kingdom! Recipe for problems…
Disneyland is next! They have the space where Haunted Mansion merch used to be and is now just empty space with tables.
I believe we do not need alcohol in Disney parks (definitely seeing an increase of stupidity with some guests overindulging) however one drink should be sufficient in a 40 min visit…if you’re polishing off two drinks that’s another discussion. Also I wish octopus was not one of the snack offerings…these creatures are extremely smart🥲
Well, since they seem to have “disappeared” the original Walt Disney “Frontierland” theme, perhaps they might bring it back with the “Frontierland Guzzler’s Paradise Joint.”
Do I really have to write “/s” now?
D
Oh, Walt and Roy and the Disney daughters are all rolling in their graves.
I think of the time a drunk patron at Epcot walked into my scooter and almost knocked the both of us over trying to hold onto his beer flight and then gave me a dirty look. Not looking forward to more of the same.
