People just WILL NOT STOP breaking these rules in Magic Kingdom.
Of course, there are a few rules you’ll need to follow if you’re heading to Disney World. With everything from dress codes to specifics on what you can have in your park bag, you’ll want to behave if you want to avoid the consequences. We go to Magic Kingdom multiple times a week, and there are two rules we see constantly broken in that park!
Before you head to Magic Kingdom (Or any Disney World park!), it’s a good idea to check out the Property Rules, Policies, & Regulations page to see what to do, and especially, what not to do in the parks. Breaking these rules could result in a variety of punishments, from confiscation of prohibited items to (on the more extreme end) banishment from Disney World.
But when it comes to the rules that are most commonly broken in Magic Kingdom, there are two on the list of no-nos that stand out to us the most. The first is that you’re not allowed to obstruct “sidewalks, entrances, driveways, patios, vestibules, stairways, corridors, halls, or landings.”
We see this one broken all. the. time. in Magic Kingdom! Guests love to stop in the middle of the walkway, stand in front of exits, and pause directly in the middle of staircases and ramps. It’s a particularly noticeable problem at Magic Kingdom because this park is the oldest, and it was not built quite as efficiently for crowd flow as some of the newer parks. The walkways get narrow in parts of Magic Kingdom (like the infamous bottleneck by Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world”), so people stopping or impeding the flow of traffic is even more obvious.
The other rule that gets broken frequently in Magic Kingdom is that visitors are prohibited from skipping lines! Many people don’t realize this is a legitimate rule of Disney’s and not just a courtesy thing. However, on the website, it’s expressly stated as follows:
“Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive, or offensive behavior, jumping lines, or saving places in lines for others. For your safety and the safety of others, please refrain from running except in designated areas.”
So no, you’re not actually allowed to send one or two family members to go wait in line while the rest of your group grabs a snack or finishes up in the bathroom. Why? This makes the wait even longer for all the people behind you in line. If everyone did this, wait times would never be accurate, and the flow of traffic in the park would be a mess (Disney counts on the fact that people will be waiting in line for attractions — otherwise, the walkways would be overcrowded all the time).
So the next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, make sure to follow these rules! If someone catches you breaking them and reports you to a Cast Member, you could face the consequences. While obstructing walkways will likely just result in you being asked to move, cutting the line could end up with your family being kicked out of the queue.
We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any other important rules for Disney World. To see the rules Disney Cast Members must follow, check out the video below.

Disney needs to enforce the no line skipping rule. Yes, it might cost a little to have enough cast members stationed around but guest satisfaction will increase if that still matters. Security may be necessary in some situations, but that can also be handled to keep cast members safe. There are exceptions for the little ones who have the “I have to go now “ emergency. Enough with the entitled cutting the line!
