We’re begging you not to break these Skyliner rules the next time you take a ride on this method of transportation!
The Disney Skyliner is a free Disney World transportation offering that takes passengers to and from select hotels and the EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme parks. We’ve used the Skyliner a bunch, along with millions of other Disney World guests. Over the years, we’ve come up with tips, but we’ve also learned what NOT to do when taking the Skyliner.
We have several former Disney World Cast Members on the DFB team, and we consulted with them regarding rules they’d wish guests would stop breaking when using the Disney Skyliner. Three answers really stood out.
Don’t Stand Up or Rock The Car
Taking any form of transportation comes with inherent risk, and that’s especially true with a gondola dangling several feet off the ground. Standing up and/or rocking your Skyliner car is dangerous, and it’s something Cast Members DO NOT want to see happening.
It’s important to stay seated and let the car gracefully glide along the cable so it can safely take you to your destination. Creating safety issues is one way to get into serious trouble, and you really don’t want to play around with gravity — which remains undefeated.
As is the case with everything at Disney World, follow instructions and listen to Cast Members for a smooth and pleasant experience.
Be Mindful Of What You Say
The Skyliner takes you high off the ground, but not Mount Everest high. Believe it or not, Cast Members and guests below you may be able to hear your conversations.
Some of our team members have heard really wacky and wild conversations that were happening in perceived privacy. When you’re at Disney World, true privacy can be difficult to come by outside of your hotel room, and that includes in the confines of the Disney Skyliner.
The simple solution? Don’t say anything you wouldn’t be comfortable saying in public. That means keep your language clean and your secrets/wild stories for a quieter location.
Leave the Emergency Box Alone Unless There’s An Emergency
Never ever play around with safety/emergency equipment at Disney World, and never utilize said equipment unless you’re experiencing an actual emergency. That goes for the emergency box and call box located in every Skyliner gondola, as well.
The emergency kits include the following:
- Cold packs
- Bathroom bags
- Water
- Notepads
- Whistle
- Glow stick
- Cups
These are not toys, and opening one for no reason will get you into trouble with Disney. Rather, treat these kits with respect and hope you never have to open one up. In the case of an actual emergency, you’ll be glad that other guests left your box alone, leaving you with everything you need and no complications.
