Why You May Want to AVOID Disney’s Hollywood Studios This Weekend

Heading to Disney World this week? First of all, I’m jealous, and secondly, something strange is happening this week that I’ve rarely seen in the parks.

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, park hours are changing pretty drastically for one day this week. If you’re heading to the park this weekend, you need to pay VERY close attention to the park’s closing time, because it’s HOURS earlier than usual.

August 16th is this coming Saturday, and instead of the park being open until 9 PM like normal, it’ll close early at 6 PM. While it’s not clear what the reasoning is for this closure, it’s possible it’s due to a private event or company renting out the park for a few hours.

In other parks, we see early closing times due to parties like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and we know we’ll see earlier closing times in DHS during the holiday season this year due to Jollywood Nights.

So what should you do? Well, if you’ve got a Park Hopper ticket, we actually recommend heading over to Hollywood Studios on the 16th, because it’s likely the park will actually be less busy. Most people prefer to have a full day in the park, especially if they don’t have a Park Hopper ticket, so they’ll choose to visit a different park altogether on Saturday. Therefore, you and your Park Hopper ticket may actually get you shorter lines, less crowded areas, and an overall pretty awesome day in the park.
