World Princess Week is coming up soon and will run from August 23rd through August 31st in Disney World.
Now, you know what that means. It means we get to celebrate Disney Princesses in Disney World. And how do we celebrate? By eating Disney Princess-themed snacks! Now, we’ve already found a few of these snacks in Disney World, including the Rapunzel Berries and Cream Cake and Pocahontas-themed Colors of the Wind Petit Cake, but we just tried two MORE Princess treats, and one involved quite a long wait!
Okay, so let’s talk about the DRAMA we went through to get our hands on the Moana Mini Cake at Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We arrived early to grab the treat, but apparently, it’s not out for breakfast (like seriously, Disney, we wanted cake for breakfast!). We ended up waiting at the hotel for HOURS, but this beautiful creation eventually arrived, and, well, it really is GORGEOUS. For $7.49, you get a Vanilla Cake filled with Mango Mousse and covered in a wave of Glaçage, Buttercream, Fondant, and White Chocolate Décor.
So, honestly, we were very torn on this cake. Having waited so long for it, we had hyped it up in our minds. Now, the vanilla cake is nice and soft with a distinct vanilla flavor. The mango mousse, though, is the star of the snack, and it’s mostly concentrated in the center. But we just felt there wasn’t enough of it. There’s also a lot of buttercream to contend with, so you need to love thick buttercream icing because it completely covers the cake. In the end, what you’re paying for with this snack is the presentation and not necessarily the quality. Y’all, we’d rather just pick up a cupcake.
Next up, we headed over to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to pick up Tiana’s Mint Chocolate Chip Bar for $6.49 at Gasparilla Island Grill. It’s made with Mint Chocolate Chip Mousse with Cocoa Sablé. This one also comes with a warning because we know not everyone loves chocolate mint flavors. We will say that the mint in this isn’t overpowering, though. It strikes a nice balance between the two flavors.
There’s also a little cookie on the bottom of the treat that gives it some substance, and it’s giving Oreo vibes. The texture of the treat as a whole is also going to be controversial because it’s basically like a panna cotta, and we know that’s not everyone’s jam. However, we found this to be a nice treat for the hot days of summer.
