Okay, so it seems impossible, but July is almost over and August will be here SO SOON. And you know what that means — the beginning of spooky season in the theme parks.
Now, we’re obviously looking forward to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World, but we’re also looking to scream in terror at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights, which brings some of our favorite horror movie and TV franchises to life with scare zones and haunted houses. Well, we just visited Universal Orlando’s Universal Studios Florida…and guess what? Preparations are already underway for Halloween Horror Nights!
Halloween Horror Nights runs on select nights from August 29th through November 2nd. Now, a month out from the first Halloween Horror Nights, we’re starting to see the first preparations being made for the event. In the San Francisco area of the park, we saw some structures for lighting starting to go up.
In the Hollywood section, there are a ton of elements underway, including more lighting rigs.
Here’s another we saw in the area.
This spooky shack is hard to miss, and even has a sign in front of it stating that it’s part of the setup for Halloween Horror Nights.
Some Scare Zone props have also been installed, including these, indicating that this is 9 Crooked Lane. This is for the new scare zone, The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane, where you’ll “travel down a spooky winding path to a mysterious home, where trick-or-treaters are transformed into feral felines.” As a cat person, being turned into a feral cat actually sounds kinda fun to me, though…
Some stages have also been added where characters will appear.
This scary stage was parked near the Scooby Doo van.
We also spotted this random structure that’s giving off creepy vibes.
So far, though, we haven’t seen signs of a tribute zone or other scare zones, but we’ll be keeping an eye out during our next visit to Universal Orlando. In the meantime, tickets are on sale now for Halloween Horror Nights, so if you want a good scare (and trust me, this party may not be for the faint of heart), grab those tickets now. This is a very popular event, and some nights might sell out.
Stay tuned to DFB for more.
