As Disney popcorn buckets have become one of the hottest collector’s items amongst Disney fans, I’ve found myself torn. In the 6+ years I’ve been writing about the company’s theme parks — and the decades of fandom that predated them — I’ve seen several popcorn buckets that I really do like. However, they do seem a bit overpriced to me at times, and I don’t think they merit the long lines and occasional hysteria that accompanies their release.
Nothing can stop HIM now
However, the latest popcorn bucket to hit Walt Disney World has me rethinking that, as I don’t think I can resist the charms of this one.
The talking Mickey Mouse popcorn bucket – which was originally released at Disneyland in conjunction with the beginning of the park’s 70th anniversary celebration back in May – hit Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently.

Decked out in Mickey’s best dress clothes, this is no ordinary popcorn bucket. Mickey is interactive, with blinking eyes, a moving head, and several sounds and phrases.
The on and off switch
The bucket is available at select popcorn carts throughout the parks, and is available for $45 (Interestingly, $10 cheaper than the Disneyland price).

The buckets are limited to two per-person, and include a serving of popcorn – which can be eaten out of the back of Mickey’s head – with purchase.
