Well, just about everything seems to be changing in Disney World right now, and it’s enough to make your head spin. Magic Kingdom is getting a new expansion AND a new land. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting a new land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting…yep, you guessed it…a new land.
There’s a huge change happening right now over in EPCOT, too. Test Track has been closed for over a year to be reimagined. Well, that reimagining is officially done, and Test Track is open to the public again. However, because of new demand for Test Track, Lightning Lane Multi Pass has also changed in EPCOT. Let’s break it down.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a separate paid service you can purchase to skip the standby lines at many rides throughout Disney World. Test Track is included as one of those rides. However, you can also preselect Lightning Lanes ahead of your Disney World visit, and that’s where things have changed.
When you preselect Lightning Lanes, rides are given a tier. You can preselect three Lightning Lanes ahead of your Disney World visit, but you can only choose one Tier 1 ride and two Tier 2 rides. Well, now, Test Track is a Tier 1 ride, which means you’ll have to choose to select that, Frozen Ever After, or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Soarin’ is now a Tier 2 ride, so you can preselect that plus another Tier 2 ride. Once you’ve scanned into the park and that first ride, though, you can start booking a new Lightning Lane for another ride.
Keep in mind that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction, which is a separate purchase option for skipping the standby line.
Disney World hotel guests can choose rides ahead of their trip seven days in advance. Everyone else can choose rides three days in advance. If you’re visiting Disney World today or anytime after that, please keep these changes in mind and plan accordingly.
You also still have the option to stand in line and wait for the attraction. Please keep in mind that, while it’s brand new, we expect long lines as everyone gets a chance to ride the new version of Test Track for the first time.
Also, keep an eye on the Single Rider Line. While it’s not always open, if you’re willing to split up your group to experience the attraction, you can enter this queue, which typically runs faster — you just won’t be sitting with your family.
