We can’t get enough of Disney Springs and all its incredible dining options, and we feel like it keeps getting better and better.
One of our favorite Disney Springs restaurants just announced a new event happening for a limited time this summer on select days of the week, and if you love live entertainment as much as we do, you won’t want to miss out. Frontera Cocina just introduced a new summer event called Viva La Noche that happens on select evenings on their patio, and we got to see what it was like!
Viva La Noche takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6:30-10:30 PM. The event sometimes can start as early as 6 PM, but the live entertainment won’t start until 6:30 PM, so that’s something to keep in mind. You can experience this special event now through September 4th!
There are different artists playing each night — Gerardo Manrique plays on Tuesday nights, German Collazos on Wednesdays, and JD Johnny Tsunami on Thursdays. You’ll find that the whole menu is available for you to order from, which we love!
We started out with drinks and grabbed the Margarita Tree for $43, which came with three different drinks! It came with the La Cava Avocado, Agave Maria, and the Malumita. You could pay around $19-$25 for each of these drinks, so to get all three for that price is a great deal.
The Agave Maria, which is made with Tromba blanco tequila and clarified lemon juice, has a great taste to it that isn’t quite sour, but it’s got that lemon tartness to it. It’s nice and light and was easily our favorite of the three.
The Malumita was heavier on the peach and pineapple flavors, so if you want something fruity, this is the way to go! It’s made with Contraluz reposado cristalino mezcal, pineapple, Ancho Reyes chile Poblano liqueur, ginger, Italicus, and tortilla ash rim.
We also really loved the La Cava Avocado, even though our reporter isn’t the biggest fan of avocado. Yes, this is the same Avocado Margarita you’ll find at La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT! The floral tones are really prominent here, and the orange liquor really hits you first, which cuts through the avocado. It does have the creaminess consistency that you get from avocados, though, but it works really well together! It’s made with Flecha Azul blanco tequila, melon-orange liqueur, fresh avocado, and lime juice with a hibiscus salt rim.
Then it was time to EAT! Our first grab was the Chorizo & Avocado Tlayuda for $26, which is a 14-inch gigantic corn masa tostada imported from Oaxaca, Poblano rajas, cotija cheese, chihuahua cheese, avocado-tomatillo salsa, brushed with black beans.
They literally gave us scissors to cut this open with, which was pretty awesome, but this is delicious! There are tons of flavors here, along with a lot of spice, so if you’re not someone who’s a fan of low heat (like cinnamon spice), this likely won’t be for you. All the toppings worked beautifully together, and we’d absolutely get this again!
Our second entree was the Carnitas Tacos, which is Gunthorp Farms’ slow-cooked pork shoulder with garlic and lime, black bean refritos with fresco cheese, guacamole, pickled red onions, and salsa verde for $28.
This came with three flour tortillas, but since the carnitas itself is served in a separate dish, you can make the tacos however you wish, which we thought was fantastic. The meat is cooked perfectly with a great sizzle to it. It’s incredibly tender and juicy, and when it soaks in those juices and adds on the sauce? We’re drooling over here.
We think this is an awesome event to check out, especially to support live entertainment around the resort, so if you find yourself in the shopping and dining district on one of these evenings, make this your dinner plan!
