We’re just weeks away from Test Track’s official reopening after over a year of refurbishment, and with the attraction already in previews, we have an idea of how EPCOT is about to change!
Deemed Test Track 3.0 by many fans — due to it being the third iteration of the attraction, after the late 1990s original and the early 2010s refurbishment — is the latest version of EPCOT’s iconic E-Ticket. We have already had the opportunity to ride a few times and we’re here to share a few ways EPCOT is about to change!
World Discovery is About to Get Busier
In the year+ since Test Track has closed, most of EPCOT’s World Discovery hasn’t been bustling with activity. While Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind continued to draw guests to its portion of the land, the majority of the area — consisting of the abandoned Wonders of Life, the perennially unpopular Mission Space, and the aforementioned shuttered Test Track — has been a veritable ghost town. However, that will obviously change when the hotly anticipated refurbishment opens.
Lightning Lane Shuffle
When Test Track reopens, it will replace Soarin’ as a Tier 1 option for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the grouping that allows purchasers to pre-select one attraction. Given that Test Track will likely be a “hot ticket” upon its July 22nd public opening, this may make Lightning Lanes to EPCOT ’s other Tier 1 offerings — Frozen: Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure sleight easier to get.
Old & New
Without giving away too many spoilers, those who’ve ridden Test Track during previews — including members of our team– indicate that the new version of Test Track has been abundantly changed by adding a new storyline and thematic elements to the existing infrastructure. However, there are also several nods to EPCOT’s past, including to beloved attractions Horizons and World of Motion, the latter of which the original Test Track replaced.
Test Track 3.0 is about to change many things about EPCOT, from how guests celebrate its past to how they plan they’re future days in the park! Stay tuned to DFB for more on the E-Ticket’s official opening.
