EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival is amazing… until you realize you’ve spent 30 minutes in line for a tiny plate of festival goodness and nowhere to set it down.
The truth is, this festival is one of the best events Disney puts on, but it can also be chaotic, crowded, and completely overwhelming if you’re not prepared. That’s why we’re sharing the actual tricks that make a huge difference — the ones seasoned festival-goers swear by but most people overlook. If you’re heading to EPCOT for the festival, there’s one move that will instantly level up your whole experience — and a couple of smart add-ons that make the day smoother, tastier, and way more fun.
Bring a Tray — We’re Serious
We’re not kidding when we say this is the move that separates first-timers from pros.
You know how it goes — you order that super-hyped dish from the Japan booth, then spot the drink you’ve been dying to try at the Mexico booth, and suddenly you’re carrying two plates, a drink, your phone, and maybe a fork in your mouth because all the tables are full. If that sounds chaotic, that’s because it is.
Bringing a tray with you is a total game-changer. It gives you a flat surface for your food and drinks, and lets you carry multiple items without risking a sauce spill all over your shirt. It also makes it easier to grab what you want from a booth and then find a quieter spot to enjoy it. And when tables are full (which they usually are), you won’t have to stalk a trash can just to find a place to set your food down.
People use all kinds of trays — plastic cafeteria trays, small baking sheets, even foldable ones that fit in backpacks. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It just needs to be light, easy to wipe off, and big enough to fit a couple dishes and a drink. You’ll get curious looks, sure, but you’ll also get jealous ones. And your hands will thank you.
Don’t Wing It — Make a Food Plan Ahead of Time
It’s tempting to show up and “just see what looks good,” but trust us: that’s the fastest way to waste time, money, and stomach space.
Menus are posted online before the festival starts, and you can bet we’re over here analyzing every booth and ranking the standouts for you. Scroll through those menus before you go and decide what dishes you absolutely want to try, and which ones you’re okay skipping. Not only does this help with budgeting and pacing, but it also keeps you from standing in the middle of World Showcase trying to decide if that Canada cheddar soup is worth sweating in July for (spoiler: it’s not quite as magical in the heat).
Also, and this is important — don’t book dining reservations on your festival day. Sit-down meals take up way too much time and space in your stomach. Food & Wine is the meal. If you’re going to eat a $40 steak somewhere, let it be four incredible small plates instead.
Avoid the Weekends If You Can
The best thing you can do for your sanity is to plan your festival day for a weekday, especially earlier in the day.
Weekends at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival get packed. We’re talking shoulder-to-shoulder, line-around-the-booth crowds that make it hard to even see the menu, much less get near the register. Locals love this festival just as much as tourists do, and they flock to EPCOT on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you’ve ever been in line behind someone ordering one of everything for their entire group while holding a giant drink in each hand, you know what we’re talking about.
Visiting on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon is a completely different vibe. Booth lines are shorter, Cast Members have time to chat, and you can actually enjoy your food without being bumped into every 30 seconds. It’s not always easy to swing a weekday off, but if you can make it happen, it’s absolutely worth it.
Want a Concert Seat? Book an Eat to the Beat Dining Package
If one of your favorite artists is playing at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, don’t take your chances on standby seating. Disney brings in some seriously popular acts (we’re looking at you, Hanson and Boys II Men), and those shows fill up fast.
The easiest way to guarantee yourself a seat is to book an Eat to the Beat dining package. You’ll get a reserved seat for the concert and a meal at a participating EPCOT restaurant.

You can score a reserved seat by buying an Eat to the Beat dining package!
If you still want to eat your way through the festival, look for the Regal Eagle Smokehouse option — it’s quick service, which means you can grab something casual and still lock in your concert seat. Just know that option is very limited and sells out fast, so act quickly once booking opens.
Bottom Line
You don’t need to over-engineer your day to have fun at the Food & Wine Festival, but a few simple tricks can completely change your experience. Bring a tray so you’re not juggling plates like a street performer. Make a food plan so you’re not wasting time or money. Avoid weekends like the plague. You’ll eat better, feel less stressed, and walk away with fewer regrets.

Would love to make a plan for the festival but they haven’t released the menus yet. Lol
I am surprised Epcot doesn’t sell mini trays. The mini version of the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall tray I got at Tokyo Disneyland is my favorite souvenir I got on the trip (and I use it at home regularly).
Love your blog, my husband and I will be going this year for his 52nd birthday. I can’t wait to see the menu.
