Is it just us, or is EVERYTHING under construction in Disney World? Okay, that’s a bit of an overstatement, but seriously, a lot is going on right now.
In EPCOT, Test Track is getting ready to reopen after an extended closure and retheming. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is getting an overhaul in Magic Kingdom, while Frontierland is getting a Cars expansion. PLUS, that park is getting a new Villains Land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is in the progress of creating a new Monsters, Inc. land and converting Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster into a Muppets ride. In the meantime, Disney also just announced that two popular rides will soon be temporarily closing.
For those heading to EPCOT soon, please make a note that Spaceship Earth will be closing on August 25th. Now, don’t get too excited because this seems to be only for a routine refurbishment (aka regular maintenance). Yes, we’re still wondering if this ride will ever get the big update we were once promised, but as it stands, this is probably not it. Anyway, Spaceship Earth will reopen later this year.
In Magic Kingdom, Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid will be temporarily closing on July 21st. Again, this is just for routine maintenance, and the ride is expected to reopen on July 26th, so this one is a super short closure.
We also want to remind you that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close on August 4th for some updates that will include a new show scene, updated ride vehicles, and gameplay enhancements. We’ll also keep an eye out for more closures.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more closures, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
