The Walt Disney World Monorail System is an iconic part of Disney World. It has transported millions of guests since it opened in October 1971, and it is about to get a really cool update!
The Monorail System transports about 22 million guests per year. The monorails received a new feature to celebrate Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, and now the monorails are getting another upgrade!
To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Disney engineers added a feature that illuminated the beam under the monorail at night. We have loved seeing this new feature, and now the monorails are getting another NEW feature. Beginning this week, the monorails will be getting a new feature that allows the logo on each train to glow in the dark.
We will definitely be keeping our eyes peeled to see the new glow-in-the-dark logo, we can’t wait! The Disney World Monorail runs a few different routes. You can take it from the Transporation & Ticket Center (TTC) direct to Magic Kingdom, or you can hop on the Resort Monorail that stops at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort in addition to Magic Kingdom and the TTC. You can also grab a monorail that will take you from the TTC to EPCOT. Keep a lookout for the new feature!

just saying alot of magic was lost when done away with
It looks like it will be below the doors and not visible while in the stations. It would be nice if riding in the cab would be restored. That was a nice experience for kids (young and old).
Love the new glow under the cars (monorail) at night from below the tracks, so this will be a cool addition!
