Great news for fans of Extended Evening Hours!
If you’ve ever wanted to stay in the parks after closing and experience a park with fewer people and shorter lines, then Disney World’s Extended Evening Hours events could be great for you. This is a perk that lets guests at Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villas (and select other hotels) stay for a few extra hours in certain parks (on certain nights) AFTER they’ve closed to regular guests. If you are hoping to experience Extended Evening Hours this year, we’ve got fun news — hours have been announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Disney has announced the return of Extended Evening Hours to Hollywood Studios this August. August 29th is the first date of this perk’s return to Hollywood Studios.
This actually isn’t that unusual — when Halloween season comes around, Magic Kingdom gets so busy with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (and then Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party after that), so Hollywood Studios often takes some Extended Evening Hours spots in the calendar.
Here’s a look at the upcoming Extended Evening Hours schedule. This is (of course) subject to change. Check for the latest updates on our Extra Theme Park Hours page and the Disney World calendar on the My Disney Experience app or the Disney World website.

What are Extended Evening Hours, exactly? This is a perk that guests staying at Deluxe Disney World resorts, Deluxe villas, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, the Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green can use on select days of their vacation.
Unlike Early Entry, which allows guests of ALL Disney World resort hotels to enter ANY park of their choosing 30 minutes early on ANY day, Extended Evening Hours only happen at select parks throughout the week and are only reserved for those staying at select hotels. They allow you access to the park a few hours after regular closing, and can be a great way to get a few more rides in before the day ends.
But, be aware that not all areas of the park are open during Extended Evening Hours. At Hollywood Studios, for example, these attractions are open during Extended Evening Hours:
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
- Toy Story Mania!
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™

It’s a great perk, especially if you don’t go to Disney World often and you want to take advantage of each and every minute in the park that you can. For more Disney World hotel news, check out our links below.

This so called “perk” used to be available to ALL guest staying at any resort in Disney World!
I don’t understand why Disney is now discriminating amongst its guest? Money is still green, no matter which Disney resort you are staying at! They are all expensive now. Sure if you stay at the Floridian it’s 600-$1000 and up per night, and if you stay at Pop Century, it might be $259 a night. However, $259 a night is still a lot of money for a family of four to spend these days which does not include your food at Disney or your transportation to get there or park tickets! Disney is not a cheap vacation and they’re getting more and more expensive every year. Instead of taking away perks for the every day family who scrimps and saves five years or more just to get there, Disney should be rewarding ALL their guest with as many freebies and incentives as possible, instead of taking away something that once was available to everyone and giving it to a select few. That’s just wrong.
