Disney’s streaming services are changing again.

Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN offer tons of movies, shows, and more for us to enjoy on the go and at home! This year, streaming services have been a big focus for the company, and this newest change marks a shift in what your streaming will look like.
Disney+, HULU, and ESPN’s streaming platforms are changing again, and luckily, it’s not a price increase! According to Variety, Disney is working on adding virtual storefronts to their streaming platforms to make shopping easier.

Disney is hoping to “meld streaming and selecting” by adding these online stores where viewers can order snacks, shop for products, and more while watching movies, and shows. While streaming, you will be able to click through the stores when prompted by interactive ads.

To create the online stores, Disney is partnering with Shopsense. They will be linking the virtual stores to the commercials shown on the platforms. The products offered will tie in to the content users are watching. They are also partnering with Gopuff, a digital delivery service, for viewers to order snacks, drinks, and candy.

Jamie Power, senior vice president of addressable sales for Disney, said, “I’m excited to see streaming ads finally being optimized for streaming, rather than just replicating the linear experience.” She continued to say this shift will enable “shoppable storytelling” while delivering “solutions” connected to advertising shifts.

This isn’t a new change in the industry, though! Paramount currently offers similar online storefronts through Shopsense. It is unclear when this shift will go into effect; however, Vairety noted we will see the online storefronts in the “not too distant future.”

We’re eager to see how the changes impact our viewing experiences on each platform. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney news and updates.
