We’ve been awaiting this news for quite some time, knowing it was coming, but half-dreading the announcement.
DinoLand U.S.A. began its closure and transformation into Pueblo Esperanza earlier this year when Chester & Hester’s DinoRama closed, along with TriceraTop Spin. Now, Disney has officially announced the closing date for The Boneyard in Dinoland, and it’s arriving sooner than you may think.
It’s just been confirmed that the last day of operation for The Boneyard, the play area for kids inside DinoLand, will be September 1st, 2025. On September 2nd, it will officially close to make way for Pueblo Esperanza construction.
However, Disney confirmed at the exact same time that there WILL be a new play area coming to the new Pueblo Esperanza area, so it’s great to know that when the new land opens, kids will have somewhere they can play safely and get some of their energy out.
While we knew that the new land would contain a Hacienda, a new quick service location that will likely be taking the place of Restaurantosaurus, in this recent announcement, Disney confirmed that this Hacienda will be “one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World Resort.”
We know that Disney is already hard at work behind the walls of this new area, which includes bringing to life a new Encanto attraction and carousel, and when Dinosaur closes in 2026 (official date not yet confirmed), it’ll become home to a new Indiana Jones ride.

Disappointed wdw had to do away with Dinoland…. They have so much land to expand…. But looks like it will be nice except….WHERE ARE THE ANIMALS???? This is Animal Kingdom! Why is there no mention of animals being showcased that are native to Central and South America??? AK has really strayed from its original concept…..
I too believe AK has strayed…will they replace the animals in the Savana Safari with mechanical animals like in the Jungle Cruise?
