EPCOT is known for its festivals, and while we are currently in between festivals, we can’t help but dream about what is coming up next! The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is coming on August 28th, and we are already counting the days.
Disney will gradually release more details as we get closer to the festival’s start date, but we can’t help but think about what might be coming. Of course, we have lots of wants and desires, but what trends are we actually expecting to see at the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival? We are sharing some of the trends we think will make their way to this year’s Food and Wine Festival!
First up, we are looking at the food trends that we expect to see at the festival. Currently, flavors like ube, matcha, strawberry, and pickle are all the rage, and we expect to see these flavors make an appearance in at least a few dishes. We have also seen Freeze-Dried Skittles be put on just about everything — from Krispie treats to slushes, we have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of Freeze-Dried Skittles yet.
Mocktails also seem to be a huge trend. We have seen more and more mocktail options pop up around Disney World, and we are hoping this trend also makes its way to the Food and Wine Festival. We would love to be able to drink around the world with only mocktails, and we would love to see more options available at the Global Marketplace booths!
We are REALLY hoping this year is the year for the return of seminars at the Food and Wine Festival. It has been years since we have seen the seminars at the festival, but we are holding out hope that this is the year. CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are ready to go! They were newly opened last year, so we didn’t think they were quite ready to host these events. But now they have been open for a bit, so maybe they will offer some seminars this year. Let’s hope we are right!
Now to talk a bit about the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. We have been seeing a skewing of the acts to appeal to people who were kids in the late 2000s and early 2010s. We are thinking this trend will continue this year, and we will see more pop-punk and pop stars from those eras.
More Muppets? We have seen the Muppets at Brew-Wing and on merchandise, and now that the Muppets Courtyard is closed, it’s possible we might see even more Muppets related things to bridge the gap. Muppets fans no longer have the option to head to Muppets Courtyard, so maybe there will be more Muppets popping up at this year’s Food & Wine Festival? We will have to see!
We are also REALLY hoping for a trend towards more tables! Pretty please?!? We are just going to speak it into existence and hope it happens! We have been hoping for more tables every single year and we are going to keep hoping. We don’t want to rely on trash cans as tables anymore, we really just want somewhere comfortable to enjoy our food!
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is included with your park admission to EPCOT. The festival is taking place from August 28th through November 22nd, and you can drink and eat around the Global Marketplace Food Booths, watch the Concert Series, participate in family-friendly activities, and more!
