It’s the circle of SNACKS!
Animal Kingdom is our hidden gem for incredible snacks and treats, and with these five new bites, you’re going to want to run to Disney World right now (but you’ll probably want to come on an empty stomach).
We ran straight to Harambe Market in Africa to get the Mango Vanilla-Mousse for $6.19.
It’s a tropical fruit-glazed vanilla milk mousse with a mango-passion compote and whipped panna cotta. It was so light and airy, with a gorgeous, soft texture. There were chunks of mango that added a more of a bite, contrasting with the soft mousse. The mousse is on top of a soft graham cracker crust, which adds a nice crunch to each bite. The mango flavor is forward, and for $6, this is a steal! It’s a great dessert that feels special for a great price point and a perfect balance of sweetness.
Next to Harambe Market, we stopped by the snack stand with the open grill and yellow bike in front of it. We ordered the Grilled Corn on the Cob for $5.29.
This corn is grilled right in front of you and is coated in African spices. Animal Kingdom has had grilled corn in the past, and this version is a little different, but it is still packed with flavor. The spice rub was salty with a bit of sweetness, and the curry spices were strong. It wasn’t spicy, and we overall thought it was a fun snack to pick up.
Heading to DinoLand U.S.A., we went to Dino-Bite Snacks and grabbed the Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich for $8.79.
This ice cream sandwich is made with strawberry ice cream between two strawberry crumble-baked sugar cookies dipped in a strawberry crumble.
It melted FAST, but that’s okay because we also wanted to eat it fast! The ice cream had chunks of strawberries inside for a bite, and the outside cookies were incredibly soft. Because the cookies are plain sugar cookies, they help balance out the strawberry flavors and create an incredible bite. It’s definitely strawberry forward but not overwhelming!
At Satu’li Canteen in Pandora, we had the Specialty Cold Brew Flight for $8.79. The flight comes with three Joffrey’s Coffee Cold Brews, including their traditional brew, matcha cold brew, and ube cold brew.
The traditional cold brew was Joffrey’s classic cold brew, which we know and love! It’s slightly sweeter than other cold brew brands, but it’s always refreshing.
The ube cold brew was our favorite because it had the same vibe as an ice cream float, complete with all the whipped cream on top. There were also freeze-dried strawberries inside, which added a delightful sweetness.
Matcha lovers, listen up! This one is for you! It is not too overly sweet and has crumbles of freeze-dried strawberries on top of the pile of whipped cream. If you’re not the biggest matcha lover, you might want to pass this to the matcha fans in the group.
We can’t believe we got three cups of cold brew for $8.79! It’s a great deal and would be easy to share. We’re looking forward to ordering a full cup of the ube cold brew when we come back next time.
Even after all of those snacks, we needed to round off our day with dinner. At Satu’li Canteen, we got the Combination Bowl: Chimichurri Beef and Chili-Garlic Shrimp for $18.79.
This bowl is packed with chimichurri beef paired with shrimp tossed in a chili-garlic sauce with crunchy vegetable salad and boba balls on top. You get to choose your base, and we picked noodles with black beans.
We love the size of the bowl, and all of the elements were cooked perfectly. The black beans were covered in a sauce that added some spice, and while it wasn’t overwhelming, it was definitely present. The boba balls fought against the spice by being filled with sweet! Some bites were spicy and others were sweet from the boba, so be ready for a bit of differences between each bite.
Animal Kingdom, they could never make us hate you. We loved all the snacks we tried and know that there are always more to discover at the next location. While we’re setting out to try them all, make sure you’re following Disney Food Blog for more!
