Recently, Disney has announced new lands, attractions, and entertainment headed to the theme parks, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, and so much more.
Keeping up with the latest construction permits Disney World files can be a great way to find out just what is going on around the parks and hotels, and we recently spotted some you might want to know about!
It’s certainly no secret that a ton of changes are in store for Disney World, and we can’t wait for what’s to come. Several new Notice of Commencement permits have been filed by Disney lately, giving us a clue into how some projects are going — and what else we can expect to see going forward. Let’s check them out!
Changes are coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom! Disney has announced that a new show scene, updated ride vehicles, and gameplay enhancements will be coming to this ride sometime in 2026. And, we just spotted a new permit for this update. An “electrical work” permit lists Elite A/V System Inc. as the contractor.
As part of the new adventure, an all-new character — a friendly robot named “Buddy” — will make sure you’re prepared for your mission. This will also be a great time for you to see some of the new, interactive target features before blasting off. The attraction is set to close sometime in August, though we don’t have an exact date from Disney yet.
We spotted quite a few permits for different guest buildings at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as well! This hotel is undergoing refurbishment in some areas, including the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area. The permits we spotted were listed as “general construction,” and Disney advised that some views of Magic Kingdom and other surrounding areas might be impacted.
You may have heard that some huge changes are coming to Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland, and you’d be right! Not only is a brand-new Cars-themed area coming to the park, but so is a massive Villains Land expansion. Of course, these changes are going to take some time, but we do know that parts of this land are set to close for renovations on July 7th.
That’s why it’s really no surprise that multiple permits have recently been filed in this area. Disney has filed permits for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Golden Oak Outpost, and a pumping station behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It’s unclear whether these permits have anything to do with the Frontierland changes or if these are just general maintenance permits, but we’ll keep an eye out for changes in the park either way.
We’ll be on the lookout for more permit updates you need to know about from Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news!
