There’s a quiet little bakery in EPCOT that’s not so quiet anymore.
If you’ve been to EPCOT recently and tried to grab breakfast in the France Pavilion, chances are you’ve run into this problem. Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie used to feel like a bit of a hidden gem, but those days are long gone. Now, the line at rope drop is starting to spiral out of control — and yep, it’s getting out of hand.
Les Halles is tucked in the back of the France Pavilion and offers some of the best breakfast options in EPCOT. We’re talking croissants, quiches, baguettes, pastries, and sandwiches that are shockingly good for theme park food. For a long time, it flew under the radar because not everyone realized it was even open at park open —most people assumed World Showcase didn’t start until 11AM. But guess what? Les Halles is open with the rest of the park, and people are finally catching on.
Add in the fact that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is one of the top attractions in the park and that it’s located right there in the France Pavilion, and you’ve got a perfect storm. People rope drop Remy, then swing over to Les Halles for breakfast — because why not grab a pain au chocolat after your rat-themed ride? It’s a solid plan in theory… but when everyone else has the same idea, it creates a problem.
And here’s the issue: that line? It gets long. Really long. We’re talking out the door long. And no, there’s no Mobile Order here. This is a good old-fashioned queue that snakes through the bakery, then spills out into the main walkway outside. If you’re planning to hit Les Halles for a quick bite, you’ll want to recalibrate your expectations. “Quick” during rope drop is not on the menu.
Even though the food is pre-made and service moves relatively fast once you order, the bottleneck is just getting inside. During busy mornings, it can take you 20–30 minutes just to reach the counter. And once you have your food, finding a seat is its own adventure. The seating area is very limited, and unless you get lucky, you’ll probably be eating while standing at one of the few high-top tables — or balancing a box of pastries on your lap on a bench outside.
To be clear, the food is still worth it. We’re not saying to skip Les Halles entirely — it’s still one of the best quick service spots in the park, hands down. But this is your heads-up: it’s no longer a casual walk-in situation during rope drop. You need to plan ahead, especially if you’re hitting EPCOT early in the day.
If you want to avoid the crowd, here are a few tips:
- Go later in the day. The early morning rush is the worst. By mid-afternoon, lines are usually shorter (though seating is still tight).
- Send someone ahead. If you’re with a group, split up — one person can get in line while others scope out a table. But don’t hog tables; this in itself causes problems. Only snag a table if your family is within a couple of minutes of actually eating.
- Don’t expect to sit inside. Mentally prepare yourself to eat outside. The stone benches in the France Pavilion aren’t glamorous, but they get the job done.
- Consider skipping it if you’re in a rush. If you’ve got a tight schedule or back-to-back Lightning Lanes, this might not be your best breakfast stop.
And for the love of croissants, if you’re trying to rope drop Les Halles, don’t assume you’ll be in and out in five minutes. This isn’t your average snack break—it’s basically got the wait of an attraction now.
The bottom line is that Les Halles is amazing, but it’s not a secret anymore. The rope drop crowd knows it, the Remy fans know it, and the regulars definitely know it. So if you’re planning to stop by first thing in the morning, be prepared to wait—and maybe bring a little extra patience along with your appetite.

I do recall quite a few Disney influencers hype up the location as an “under rated gem”. The influencers did what they do, and the word spread far and wide.
I remember when the original bakery was on the left where the ice cream is now. My family loved to stay at the Beach Club and wander over to it for coffees and pastries.
Disney just isn’t worth it anymore. When you have to plan every minute of every day you’re no longer on vacation.
Does it have mobile ordering? Mobile order has saved us so much time at other counter service places!
I was coming here to say the same thing someone else.mentiined about influencers. Theres more and more influencers running around spreading the word about a given topic and all of a sudden, its not a secret anymore. Les Halles is a perfect example. On 1 hand i do appreciate that someone is saying this food is good, but at the same time, now everyone is going to rush there. I dont see a happy median for a lot.of things anymore.
I have always been very picky when it came to eating. I have tried just about all of the different cuisine from all of the different” Countries” but, I have to try these! I am not a breakfast person. I always take cereal bars with me to eat at the hotel room before I go.
It would be awesome if they reduced or eliminated the souvenir shop to add a few more tables.
This has been the spot for decades.
I was there about 6 months after opening. Our friends told us that we should stop there for
breakfast.
I know this is new to some people
but, you need to write about the
history as well.
Plus you can mix your OJ with
champagne🍾🥂🍾.
As much as it pains me to suggest closing off the bakery, they really need to switch to a mobile order location with a pick up window. They could even add kiosks that people could order at and wait for a number to be called. The current setup is not working.
This happened to me back in February when my bro did the Princess Half Marathon at WDW. We spent a day a Epcot, and I wanted to take him to Les Halles. It’s usually my favorite place to go for breakfast back when it was a quick pop-in. However, once we got there, it was not quick at all! A long line was already spilling out, and after we got our food, we had nowhere to sit, plus it was raining outside, so we ended up using two garbage bins as our tables. Food was still excellent of course, my brother loved it, but… damn…!! I was gonna mention another hidden gem we found in Epcot for lunch, but… I think I’ll keep that a secret for now. 😉
There is a line each time we go but the food is worth it to me. I wish they would ditch the giftshop and add extra seating. Or allow mobile order pick up at the giftshop register. Because everything I eat here is delicious.
Sorry but that “French” bakery is 3rd rate and in no way is commensurate of real French bakeries. The sandwiches are lacking proteins, full of bread. I’ve never gotten a single item I thought was any good. The deserts are awful and often the baked goods are stale. I’m done with that place.
No matter what time of day we have got there the line has been out and beyond the main walk flow in front of France! We gave up! Always next time we say. So maybe, next time!! 😄💖✌️
Again, Disney loves the $$ but fails to provide enough seating and comfort for the $$
Don’t worry Disney, this won’t affect me because you’ll never see a single penny from me. Poor Walt must be rolling in his grave due to your degenerate behavior.
I’m sure it has NOTHING to do with “influencers” talking up the location for clicks and $$$.
As everything else, “influencers” have now ruined this location.
And they acted so surprised.
Finding seating is a nightmare, even late in the evening. I get in line for a buckwheat crepe while my husband gets in the bakery line. Then it’s like a game of musical chairs until he finally gets a table, which are small and uncomfortable. But a gf buckwheat crepe with ice cream is worth it.
No that bald guy is not me in the last picture.
What do you expect, one member of the party waits in line for Remy’s and another member gets in line for breakfast food. We did just that yesterday. You act like there are no lines at Disney… You have to wait for everything.
Is it not expensive. Who eats breakfast at disney?
Instead of stating it’s “getting out of hand” maybe disney needs to have better attention to thier theme parks. Why blame the guests for going? Looks disney should step it up.
Disney has become more actual work than a vacation should ever be. It’s just not magical anymore. I lived in the Disney Parks area for years and used season passes to go all the time. We would just go walk the parks to just get in some steps and enjoy the atmosphere. I wouldn’t do that today. Its just not worth it. As soon as they made it pay for “fast passes” we were done. You need a class just to teach a family how to make reservations and plan your days. Disney is not a walk in park. You have to plan everything including where you want to eat if you choose a sit down meal. Yeah quick service is great but those dining experiences are part of the magic. They book out 60 days in advance and forget the 6am daily window. It has just gotten to be too much. You need a vacation after your vacation with Disney. I always warn people that the parks can be overwhelming so give yourself a day or 2 at home to recoup.
We tried to go while we were visiting during the first week of May. I thought the line was for L’Artisan des Glaces because it was that far back – no way we were waiting it that line!
It’s a shame they didn’t move Les Halles to a bigger location when they expanded the France pavillion. There could have been more seating, and mobile order as well.
You’ve had to serious planning at Disney since at least 1994, my first visit! It really hasn’t changed. When I read the unofficial guide to Disney that year the first thing they said was go during a slow season and plan everything otherwise you’ll be wondering about in the heat not being able to do anything because of all the lines. Their first recommendation was do not go during peak season, the second one was come up with a plan of exactly what you want to do and do them in the right order. Seriously, I think our first few visits in the 90s would have been horrible if we didn’t do this. They even warned people who are free spirits that you’ve got to get a little bit of type A at Disney or you will be miserable. What I’ve discovered, is that things change yearly at Disney when it comes to the popularity of certain attractions, restaurants, and food and snacks. Some things are consistently overwhelmed, but not everything and not all the time. I’ll be honest the place where I have a true vacation is a universal, because we stay at Lake Royal Pacific or portofino Bay and you get unlimited Express passes. We honestly do just kind of wonder about and do whatever rides we want whenever we want. And making reservations there is a lot easier and a lot more accessible. I’ve never had the perfect Disney vacation yet and we’ve been going a lot in the last 10 years and many times before that. I think a couple years ago we came close getting lightning Lane every day and making reservations for one restaurant per day. However we’re not particularly picky about which place we eat at and we never eat at the super expensive ones he’s honestly, they’re just not worth it. Even the moderately place table service restaurants are very expensive. Most of the food is pretty good however I do think a lot of Disney food is overrated. We have had some great vacations though in the last six or seven years. But as others have pointed out you have to plan, plan, plan. If you don’t, you’ll probably be miserable
