Look, we LOVE Disney Adults, and we ourselves fit into that category of Disney fans, as well. HOWEVER, there are some things we wish Disney Adults would stop doing…
During our daily exploration of the Disney Parks, we often come across hidden gems and/or really cool features or hacks that make our day so much better. Either through our own reporting or the natural inquisitiveness of the Disney Adult, eventually these secrets become widespread and popular. Not only that, sometimes behaviors that we aren’t too fond of catch on among Disney Adults, causing some issues. Either way, there are a few things that a large number of Disney Adults have had their hands in ruining.
From online behavior to overcrowding, here are four things Disney Adults “ruined” for us.
Change
Disney is rapidly changing its parks and expanding to create new popular attractions. We’re not saying we love EVERY single change the Disney Parks make. In fact, there are plenty of park changes that make us quite sad (we’ll miss you forever, Muppet*Vision 3D!). Still, we keep an open mind and make final judgments AFTER a change is implemented. However, we often wish Disney Adults would practice this kind of patience, as well.
Unfortunately, we’ve noticed a bit more of an aversion to any changes or announcements made by Disney, mostly among Disney Adults, especially in online discourse. We get nostalgia and the sense of ownership Disney Adults feel towards the parks, but we ask that folks keep more of an open mind. Hating something before seeing it realized is a waste of your time.
Living in negativity defeats the purpose of being a Disney Adult. Remember — it’s supposed to be fun!
Disney Merch
Who doesn’t want the latest Disney merch?! We certainly keep an eye on Disney’s latest souvenir offerings. With that said, demand for Disney merch has gotten to an incredible, less wholesome demand during the age of the internet.
We aren’t so much annoyed by Disney Adults rushing to the parks as we are hawkers who hijack Disney merch in order to resell the items online. These kinds of Disney Adults abuse demand, contribute to long lines, and ultimately take away inventory from fans AND KIDS (!!!) who would appreciate these souvenirs way more.
From online souvenirs to gifts you can get in the parks, please remember that this is all meant to enhance family fun. Buying Disney souvenirs just so you can resell them to turn a profit may be legal, but that doesn’t make it right — especially when it comes at the expense of young Disney fans.
Lounges
When it comes to Disney lounges, these spots are some of the BEST Disney Adult hangout locations. Ideal for older crowds who all love Disney, we get why Disney lounges and bars can become VERY popular.
There’s no piece of advice here — we’re just a bit bummed that some of our favorite lounges have become so popular that visiting is either difficult or requires cramped space and long waits.
We digress, as everyone should be able to enjoy these lounges.
Opening Days
We get that Disney Adults want to be the first to see everything, but all of the crowding can make opening days impossible for everyone.
Disney Adults pack the parks for even the most minuscule events. It doesn’t matter if a new ride is opening or something as simple as a new meet-and-greet is debuting — Disney Adults will be there. This can make opening days a nightmare of crowds in the parks. It is a bit ironic, though, as hype for these offerings almost always dies down after opening day while the offering itself remains the same.
There’s nothing wrong with experiencing something new AFTER opening day (although you can still count on us being there to provide updates and let you know what to expect!).

It would be nice to have a few extended night hours Adult Only. So we could enjoy rides & Disney Magic without dodging strollers, exhausted kids, etc.
Hi David, my husband and I are Disney Adults and we don’t act like that. Don’t lump ALL Disney Adults into one category. Let’s talk about behavior I don’t care for. Parents who can’t control their children at the parks and restaurants. Parents who throw their children on their shoulders and push to the front during fireworks and parades. Phone zombies who stare down at their phones while walking and not looking where they are going. Families who let 20 family members cut in front of us in a ride line. People with strollers on the bus transportation that smash my toes with strollers and run me over to get off first. Let’s start with that!
Last time I went to Disney, they’re was a LARGE group of people who had rented those scooters that are meant for people worth disabilities or just trouble walking. They were all young. They zipped around hitting people and then parked in non parking areas and took cuts. I’ve also seen parents just let their kids scream and run wild. I would like adult only days or hours so we can enjoy without having kids running into us or over us
People who cut in line saying they, or their kid, had to “go to the bathroom,” and now they’re “catching up with ‘everyone else.'” How about this idea: GO TO THE BATHROOM BEFORE GETTING IN LINE!
Lounges: Who the heck spends hundreds to go to an amusement park to sit in lounges??? They belong in the hotels!
Opening Day events: Yes crowded though Wdw seems to be every day. Perhaps bc people need fun in their lives and any excuse to escape the reality the world has become?
Reselling: Absolutely agree with this. But it’s nothing new. Even decades ago, Disney or not, adults would buy up every figurine or toy my son wanted so they could resell for lots more. Stores refused to regulate. More than once my son was saddened bc I could not find a certain toy for him. Too many times we were in line behind someone (always an older man) who took every toy on the shelf! Stores would tell me that they would stand and wait for clerks to stock the shelf and then immediately empty! These greedy adults have no honor or consideration, especially for children! These sellers should be boycotted, no matter how badly your child wants it! Your hard-earned money should not be wasted on these nasty people no matter what!!!
I absolutely agree with Mathilda AND David. People in general have lost their minds and are ruining the magic that Disney used to be. I’ve needed DAS for years and because of these selfish people that want to cut in front of everyone and abuse the system, I’ve had to fight to even be able to use DAS. From line jumpers, to parade cutters, phone zombie, resellers, and just generally rude and entitled adults, the children are the least of my worries. At least they have a reason for their outbursts since their brain hasn’t fully developed yet. No excuse for the rest of these selfish people with adult money. Pass holders and ticket holders alike. It’s the adults that need to go back to kindergarten to learn some manners.
As Disney replaces long time attractions with junky rides, it’s proof the organization doesn’t care anymore. Profiteering???
I agree with Charlotte and Mathilda. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone. Manners and proper respect needs to be encouraged at ALL age levels. Large groups should not be allowed to go get ice cream, etc and then cut back into the line. And allowing kids to physically push into other people isn’t nice. Don’t even get me started on those dang bubble blowers in small spaces being purposely blown right into your face for 40 minutes while waiting in the cue…
I agree with Charlotte and Mathilda. When we come to Disney every other year, never got the Figment popcorn bucket, all gone. In line for Pirates of the Caribbean and children swinging on the ropes and running around. I am on a scooter, unable to go on coasters which is what Disney is building, wait for shows, children and parents’ squeeze-in front of me, happens every time no matter what spot I choose. Cinderellas Table for a relaxing evening meal, 4 kids at table across from us, out of seats swinging swords and wands, first time little girl hit me with her wand I didn’t say anything, 2nd time it happened my son said something to the parents, who did nothing, kids were still playing in walkway swinging. We went on and left. Another thing I have noticed, kids 10 and up have been inching past people in line towards the front. Waiting in line for Soaring, I said something to 2 young boys I noticed inching up past people in line. asked how old they are, 10 and 11, asked where their parents were, on a different ride. The lady next to me who overheard the conversation told them it was not polite to cut in line, and they should wait their turn. She then left and came back with a cast member who enquired where their parents were, then removed them from the line.
Basically what this article states is that I should not buy a ticket as an adult. Good thing I don’t listen to entitled people with kids.
I do not consider myself a Disney adult by any means. In fact, I make a conscious effort not to put money in Disney’s pockets after getting rid of their 2D animation team. With the soulless live-action remakes and ugly new animation style, I can say for certain the Disney magic is gone for me. With that being said, getting rid of Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain has sealed me for never going to Disney Land/World again. I have fond memories of those places from when I was a kid. Going there as an adult will never measure to how it used to be. It’s a waste of money at this point.
OH Mathilda, we too are Disney Adults and I have to use an ECV to get around. How many time have I been walked into by “phone zombies” and running kids that the parent don’t even know have escaped. Then the parent yell at me. My ECV is on turtle and below the kids at Rabbit and the parent are at Mars. I would like to suggest that ALL Lounges that serve alcoholic drink be Adult Only. Sorry Mom and Dad of family of little’s. I was there once and didn’t think twice about not having my drink till I was back in the room. A funny – we were so zone on no kids in lounges that we came to the parks with out 40 year Old son 3 time before be realized we could go in the lounge with him. Think of other when you travel with little’s and everyone with have a much happy time.
I have seen Disney adults act like this and yes, it does very much tarnish the Magic. I will go ahead and say DFB fans are amazing and there’s no way any of US act like this… right friends? 😁 No, in all seriousness the most annoying are those buying 10 of every thing clogging up the stores.
I’m with Mathilda – families who cannot control their kids are the worst! I survived with my two kids never having a Disney meltdown when they were little, because I didn’t push them or drag them all over past the point of exhaustion! As for your compalints about adults, well that is about anywhere you go these days where there are crowds and something popular. David, you kinda sound a bit whiny yourself, upset because you don’t have the parks – and lounges – all to yourself!
Let us clarify that Disney adults include anyone over the age of 18 ( adult legal age) and not just people who have children, etc. I think influencers are pretty much guilty of pushing a lot of negativity towards changing Disney historic rides etc., as well as pushing great restaurants and lounges , etc that were pretty much unknown until they “let us in” on the big secret.
Here’s one of the most annoying moments for me on my last trip to Disneyland. We were in line for Radiator Springs and the guy behind me was on his phone (with selfie pole), describing every single thing about the ride and line, while completely ignoring his 2 kids. I get his a blogger, but let’s be real…do we really want to see a 30 minute video about some guy in line? I really miss the old days of just being in the moment…..
Truth Mathilda! The worst is a whole family or large groups of friends going up through the line and joining someone they know at the top. It’s getting really bad lately. Disney needs to put a stop to it. Put up signs everywhere letting people know they will be removed from the park for line skipping as they do at Busch Gardens. You get caught line skipping at Busch Gardens and you are removed from the park. If I recall, Disney at one time, did have a rule. But, lately, line skipping seems to be the thing to do at Disney. After going to Disney World since it’s opening I think this might be our last Annual Pass if some things, as this, are going to continue to be allowed to happen.
I find kids using bubble wands and being almost run over or run over by a stroller much more annoying! Yeah I get it that some adults find their children using bubble wands in the parks as cute. Just wait until you get home! The bubbles float and can get into people’s eyes. Also I would like to add that I do not like it when people hog tables at quick service restaurants (like other people are trying to eat and cannot find a table; if you are finished eating then move). Also I have not seen this as much in recent years but those who bring their lunches into the parks should not be allowed to use the quick service dining tables. That is taking space away from paying customers. Regardless there are going to be people that annoy everyone because people are self absorbed and do not watch their surroundings or care about others. 🙂
Disney March has become less of a demand because the prices are so high people can’t afford to buy any Disney merchandise. It’s not because of the Internet it’s because of Disney Greed
While some ruin this for others, please don’t put all DISNEY ADULTS in the same category. Many of us fell in love with Disney bringing our children, then grandchildren. My Grandson who is now 30 years old also loves Disney and helps me to enjoy during our stay. There was a time when he turned 13 years old, at Disney. This was an age Disney didn’t recognize, he felt so out of place. He wanted to join in, but only younger kids were acknowledged. We stopped coming for a few years. now coming as Disney ADULTS. Thank God for my Lilo. Although there are rides I can no longer do, and he does, he helps me on ones I can.
I wish that Disney would designate an adult day only each month (a particular date each month so that everyone would know). I also wish that you would limit the number of visitors to the park each day. I think it would make the experience more enjoyable with less crowding. As an adult I have enjoyed visiting Disneyland several times and obviously a lot of other adults do too. Perhaps you could consider building another park somewhere in the US.
I would also say bloggers and vlogs you can’t walk the parks with out seeing one of them anymore. So many get in people’s way or are rude. Not all dont get me wrong but it’s a problem.
I agree the things mentioned here, but with some caveats. As a DVC Disney adult who is lucky enough to visit Disney annually with my family, I, become aggravated by the amount of things that have been taken away from annual pass and DVC members. Change in the parks is to be expected, but Disney has gotten greedy with price increases and removing privileges, especially for annual pass holders and DVC members. Let’s be honest, Disney is doing alright. Do they really need to squeeze their most loyal patrons? In addition, If we voice any issue with these changes, we are the ones that are viewed poorly not Disney with its ever increasing prices . This behavior is very disappointing. That is the change this Disney adult does not like, be reasonable with price increases and don’t take away privileges. On the flip side my biggest pet peeve are Disney adults that ruin the experience for children, by either impolite language , talking about a ride in line and ruining the surprise or not having patience with parents struggling with young ones. My children are adults now but I was that parent once and children do not always behave like you want, especially in the Florida heat. Some people only get to go to Disney once, your patience and help if they are struggling with their kids, could make the difference in a once in a life time trip.
The only subject I’ll agree many Disney adults need to work on is CHANGE. Many folks forget that the parks aren’t supposed to grow stale, and Disney adults are all nostalgic for the parks they experienced as children. That combo makes for some very ardent and vocal park-goers when things change.
However, blaming Disney adults for merch resellers, overcrowded lounges, and people JUST SHOWING UP AT THE PARKS TO SEE SOMETHING NEW is ridiculous. You blamed the adults for it but in the same paragraph admitted DFB will also be in the parks taking up space, buying new foods and merch.
My wife and I visit the parks once a year to scratch our Disney itch, but I’m getting pretty tired of hearing folks complain about other paying customers. Do whatever you’d like to at the parks. Eat food, buy merch, ride the rides, whatever you’d like. But please stop trying to put everyone into little boxes.
One idea I have to reduce line cutters…..place a cast member at the end of the line w/ a stamp or sticker system. If someone needs to jump out of line to use the restroom, they go to the cast member, who will stamp their hand with a unique design (ride emblem, number, etc), when said person returns, they have to show the cast member and match to be readmitted to catch up to their party.
Yup, all those bubbles can be a bit annoying.
Be Our Guest, little girl celebrating her birthday awaiting the chance to hug the Beast. Beast stood in the doorway and waived, golly, the disappointment her face. In secret we asked a cast member to magic her. A whole troop of cast members came in to escort her to see the Beast. She came back with a bag full of goodies, she pulled a signed card out of her birthday bag and gave it to me.
A dad and his little boy walked in late to Indiana Stunt Spectacular, I in my scooter and my Disney Adult grandson scooched over and offered them a seat next to us, little one celebrating birthday, we gave him a little birthday surprise.
Seeing a family in distress, a simple word to a cast member for a little magic, let’s just say, cast members are amazing.
We have grown up and gotten older with Disney. We are Disney Adults, and we love spreading a little magic of our own.
