Get ready for a closer look at the NEW Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge coming to Magic Kingdom!
The Beak and Barrel is a new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern coming to Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland later this year. While we know a little bit about what the tavern will offer (such as “tasty options for pirates of all ages — as well as refreshing cocktails for Guests ages 21 and up”) within a couple of lively spaces themed after the famous swashbucklers, Disney recently gave us a more in-depth look at some of the restaurant’s aesthetics!
In an Instagram post, Disney Imagineering shared some imagery we can expect to see when the restaurant opens!
In the video, Mackenzie, an associate graphic designer for Imagineering who designed the logo for The Beak and Barrel, explained that the goal was to make the restaurant feel like it bridged a gap between the Pirates of the Caribbean films and attraction. The logo has “its own story and its own character.”
As you can see, the black letter font “incorporates some fun hidden imagery.” You’ll notice a nod to the Barker Bird, Rummy in the “B” in Break, as well as a hidden cutlass in the “K”.
In a separate post, Imagineers shared some concept art from Marc Davis, who served as a designer on the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. For example, you can get a great look at the art for the skeleton in bed scene from the ride below!
This art featuring treasure on the beach should be familiar to Pirates fans far and wide!
Then there’s a look at the art featuring the pirate struggling to load all of his loot into the boat! Marc Davis’ art and designs will play an integral part in how this tavern will look and feel.
We’re super stoked to see the finished product and can’t wait to see all the little homages to the ride and movies! In the meantime, stay tuned right here at DFB for all the latest Disney World updates!
