Surprise! We’re back at Epic Universe (okay, we know that literally no one is surprised because we keep going back).
You see, we’re on a mission. That mission is to try ALL the food we can in Universal Orlando’s theme park, and there are still some things we haven’t managed to get to yet (our stomachs are only so big, y’all). So we’re heading back to Atlantic, which you’ll find in Celestial Park, to try this burger that we’ve heard a lot of good things about. Join us as we take a bite or two and give you our honest thoughts.
For a little bit of background, Atlantic is a full-service restaurant in Celestial Park specializing in steak and seafood. So you might think there would be a really good burger here, too, right? That’s why we ordered the The Atlantic Burger “Au Poivre” for $22. This burger is made with a Half Pound Custom Blend Beef, Asiago Peppercorn Cheese, Peppercorn Sauce, Watercress, Shaved Red Onion, and House Made Sesame Bun, and served with Thick Cut Fries. Okay, so it looks good, right?
So first up, as the description says, this is a custom blend of beef for this restaurant. We asked for ours to be cooked medium, so there was a little pink in the center. Also, note that the peppercorn sauce has a nice low heat to it — it’s not super spicy, but you just kinda get a hint that it’s there. We don’t think it would be too overwhelming for folks unless they’re super spice-averse.
The peppercorn cheese was a hit for us, and we liked the flavor and crunch the onions added, but well, the rest of this burger didn’t really impress. For starters, the watercress on the burger tastes like spinach, and that’s probably just because of the way it’s cooked, but we didn’t care for it.
But here’s where the burger really lost us. There was something else in that sauce that we found off-putting. We tried dipping our fries in it, we tried dipping the burger in it…it was just not happening for us. That could be a personal thing, though, but we were not thrilled.
Overall, this really felt like a run-of-the-mill burger that was dressed up a little. It was an okay meal. That’s it. Especially for a $22 burger. We think there are better items on the menu here to order, especially given the focus on steak and seafood, so we’d probably skip the burger if we ate here again.
Stay tuned to DFB for more.
