Starting with the Headmaster himself, Albus Dumbledore, will be played by John Lithgow. He is most known for his role in The Crown, in which he plays Sir Winston Churchill. He also played Cardinal Joseph Tremblay in last year’s Oscar Best Picture nominee Conclave. This casting has been previously confirmed. So, who else is involved?

These are the first confirmed actors for the HBO show, and we should be hearing about more soon, with the show expected to begin filming in the summer. We’re still waiting on the announcement for the stars, Harry, Ron, and Hermione — which have had over 30,000 submissions for its open casting call. HBO has described the show as a “faithful adaptation” of the book series. Where they will be “exploring every corner of the wizarding world, each season will bring ‘Harry Potter’ and its incredible adventures to new and existing audiences.”

Let’s get one thing out of the way: no one will be able to replace Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry, Emma Watson’s Hermione, or Rupert Grints Ron, along with all the other beloved actors and actresses of the movie series. However, we are very curious to see where this goes. With more information on the series expected to come out soon, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog!
