Y’all. It is HARD being a fan of streaming shows because you just never know what their fate will be and when your show might wind up canceled.
You really get into a show, and next thing you know, it’s canceled — and you’re often left with a cliffhanger of an ending. We’ve seen it happen with a lot of popular shows, too, leaving many fans scratching their heads and asking, “WHY?” Well, if you’re a fan of Mythic Quest on Apple TV+, you’re going to be asking the same thing because Variety has confirmed the series has been officially axed by the streaming subscription service.
Mythic Quest is a comedy that follows the staff of a video game studio that has created a popular MMORPG game. The cast included Rob McElhenney (who also co-created the show), Charlotte Nicdao, Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin. The series recently aired its season four finale before Apple TV+ announced its cancelation.
HOWEVER, there is some good news. The series will get an updated finale episode with a new ending that will premiere on Apple TV+ next week. Mythic Quest executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney said:
“Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”
Mythic Quest was one of the first original shows produced by Apple TV+, and since its first episode, it’s been a hit with critics and fans alike. The show’s four seasons currently have a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
