You could spend SO much time at Universal’s brand-new theme park, Epic Universe. With five themed lands, there is no shortage of attractions, shops, and restaurants to discover — and we’ve started exploring it all!
We’ve had the chance to experience Epic Universe ahead of its official opening on May 22nd, 2025 a few times now and we still haven’t even seen all that this new park has to offer. Over in the Isle of Berk, the How To Train Your Dragon-themed land at Epic Universe, they’re serving up mac and cheese cones — and we’re bringing you along to try one!
Hooligan’s Grog & Gruel is a small snack stand located in the Isle of Berk at Epic Universe — but don’t let it fool you! Hiding here are some snacks that pack a punch.
At Hooligan’s, you can stop by for a thirst-quenching soda, water, or beer — including a cider straight from Sweden!
But, this is where you will also find mac and cheese cones! If you’ve ever tried the mac and cheese cones at the Cozy Cone Motel in Disneyland, these are kind of like that (or like a Handwich for all you elder Disney fans out there!). There are a few on the menu — the Goldfish Mac & Cheese Cone, and PB&J Cone made with Pork, Bacon, and Jam, and a Dragon Fire Chicken Spire cone that’s full of spicy elements.
We picked up the Goldfish Mac & Cheese Cone for $11.99. It’s made with creamy mac and cheese with Goldfish crackers served in a crunchy cone. Sounds like a DREAM — but how did it taste?
This cone is the perfect portion for one (but we wouldn’t judge you for grabbing two). The mac and cheese is creamy and flavorful—tastes like a white cheddar blend—with each bite evenly coated, not drowning in sauce. Just enough to satisfy without being overly heavy. Now here’s the fun part: there are Goldfish crackers sprinkled on top and hidden at the bottom! It adds a playful crunch that balances so well with the smooth pasta.
Texture game: on point. But the cone itself? Absolute star. Think of the best parts of an Olive Garden breadstick—soft, buttery, slightly garlicky—and then add the perfect crunch on the outside. We could eat the bread cone on its own and be happy. They had other mac and cheese cone flavors, and you can bet we’ll be back to try the rest. This one definitely earned a spot on our “must-eat” list at Epic Universe!
That’s not all we tried out, though! There’s a few other mac & cheese cone flavors and we knew we had to try them all! The PB&J Mac & Cheese Cone also available for $14.49. This one is made of creamy mac and cheese with BBQ harissa pulled pork, maple candy bacon, and chopped parsley served in a crunchy cone.

PB&J Mac & Cheese Cone
Similar to the first option, the mac & cheese was cheesy and good but really was brought to life from the sweetness of the BBQ harissa flavor in the pulled pork. This one was a great mix of savory AND sweet so you really got the best of both worlds with it. Truthfully, this one was a quick winner in our book because the flavors worked so well together!

Inside the cone
Last but certainly not least we tried the Dragon Fire Chicken Spire Mac & Cheese Cone. This cone costs $14.49 and is made up of creamy mac and cheese with Nashville-style pulled chicken, hot honey, Calabrian peppers, chimichurri, and crispy onions served in a crunchy cone.

Dragon Fire Chicken Spire Mac & Cheese Cone
This one KNOWS how to pack the spicier heat of a kick that will taper off into a lighter feel. In addition to the spicier side, it’s also no stranger to a sweet side so don’t expect that spice to linger longer than a few seconds. Our only gripe about these last two cones is that they stop short (about 3/4 of the way down) in their cone holders making them appear longer than they are, but that’s only because we loved them and their seasoning around the bread cone.

So crunchy!
While it gave a nice crisp edge, the center was so soft (especially after all these ingredients sitting inside them for a bit), and made for a filling, walkable snack that doubles as an entree.

A bite of Dragon Fire Chicken Spire
We couldn’t get enough of the seasoning around the cone either that gave us notes of “everything bagel” seasoning with some fresh butter brushed around it.
We can’t WAIT to bring you more inside looks at Epic Universe and will be doing so after the park opens! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest Epic Universe and Disney World news.
