This might throw a wrench in your next cruise!
Norovirus outbreaks have been hitting many cruise lines, and 85 people got sick on a recent Princess Cruise.
According to CBS News, 69 passengers and 16 crew members fell ill during a 16-night cruise aboard the Coral Princess from Los Angeles, California, through the Panama Canal.
A spokesperson for Princess Cruises told CBS News that the cases were “mild” and “at the earliest signs of illness, we promptly enacted enhanced sanitation protocols, including comprehensive disinfection, isolating affected guests, and offering health guidance to everyone on board.”
The cruise started in Los Angeles on February 21st and returned to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 9th. Norovirus is a type of stomach bug, and symptoms can last between one and three days. However, they can also be transferable to others for two weeks or longer.
This is the second outbreak on the Coral Princess in 2025 where 128 passengers and 20 crew members got sick before.
To keep yourself as safe as possible on your text cruise, make sure you wash your hands. It’s important to wash up before and after eating, using the bathroom, changing diapers, or taking medication. Hand sanitizer does not work as well for the norovirus, so use soap and water as often as you can.
