It’s time to breathe some life into a dead part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Listen, the food at PizzeRizzo may not be the best (it’s rat pizza, IYKYK), but the restaurant makes up for its subpar menu with charming decorations and hilarious Muppets easter eggs. But soon, this restaurant will be permanently closing to make way for a NEW Monsters, INC. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, what better way to say goodbye than with a prom?

Yep, you read that right. We attended the (unofficial) PizzeRizzo Prom at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and seeing everyone get together to celebrate the Muppets — and this iconic restaurant — was every bit as delightful as you might imagine.

We saved the date. We’ve been counting down the days to the PizzeRizzo Prom since December, and the time has come to boogie down!

Just like the Muppets themselves, we met an eclectic bunch of fans. The dress code was less about being formal and more about being FUN, and that’s the kind of prom we can get behind.

There was music. (Well, there’s always music, but still) There was food. (It is a restaurant, after all) There were some FABULOUS outfits. What more could you ask for?!

Naturally, we had to snap some photos of some of our favorite looks. Let’s start with this one. She is the living embodiment of the dining room — how CLEVER! If you look closely, you’ll notice that her dress matches the wallpaper, her purse matches the disco ball on the ceiling, and she’s even got the ivy woven through her trellis-inspired cardigan. BRILLIANT!

Speaking of showstopping looks, can we take a moment to appreciate the DETAILS here?!

We also LOVED this colorful look…

…and this artistic ensemble! Bravo! We’re obsessed.

Like it or not, every party has a pooper, and it looks like Statler and Waldorf crashed the prom. Shhh. It looked like they were secretly having a little fun. Either way, WE had a ton of fun — these outfits are 10/10.

Grand Avenue will begin a phased closing in May, with May 10th slated as the last day to dine at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Disney confirmed that Muppet*Vision 3D will permanently close at the beginning of June, with the final day to experience the attraction being June 7th. Along with the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo will also have its final day of operation on June 7th. This means that as of June 8th, the entire Muppets Courtyard will be blocked by construction walls.

We’re gonna miss Grand Avenue when it closes, but change is inevitable! Ah, the memories…
