Mufasa: The Lion King is Disney’s latest theatrical release, which came to theaters on December 20th, 2024.
If you have been holding out on seeing Mufasa: The Lion King or want to see it again, we have some good news! You will soon be able to watch Disney’s latest film from the comfort of your home!
Now, we don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately, the film will not be released on Disney+ quite yet.
Instead, Disney announced that the film would be available for digital purchase and at-home viewing on February 18th. Then, on April 1st, it will be available to own on Blu-ray.

While we don’t know when the film will be available to stream on Disney+, we have an idea of when it could be on the streaming platform.
Typically, Disney waits about three months from theatrical release to upload a film for streaming on Disney+. This has been the case with multiple new releases such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, Inside Out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, all of which were added to Disney+ about three months after their initial release in theaters.
The exception to this three-month rule was Wish, as it was added to Disney+ about four months after its theatrical release.
If Disney follows the typical three-month rule, we can expect to see Mufasa: The Lion King on Disney+ sometime between March and April of 2025. Once again, this is not confirmed; instead, it is just a hunch based on past releases.
We will keep an eye out for the official release date of Mufasa on Disney+, but until then, you will be able to watch it from home starting on February 18th by purchasing the film on digital!
