It’s time to celebrate!

Lunar New Year has begun at Disney California Adventure! This festival is running from  January 17th through February 16th, 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited. We have been checking out the merchandise, entertainment, and, of course, the food! Check out our full review for the Lucky 8 Lantern booth right here.

There is so much to see and do at the Lunar New Year festival in California Adventure! One of our favorite things about this short festival is the food! There is food scattered all throughout the park for the celebrations, but if you’re looking to try a lot at once, head over to the Marketplaces. The one we’re checking out right now is the Lucky 8 Lantern!

Menu

This year is pretty exciting when it comes to Lucky 8 Lantern’s menu! We have one returning bite, one new snack, and 2 new cocktails! It has some sweet and savory options.

Let’s quit talking menu though and actually see what these snacks are all about! 

Eats

We’re starting off with the returning Quesabirria Eggroll with a guajillo pepper consomé for $9.50.  In the past we’ve found these egg rolls to be a bit dry, so is this year any better?

This year it was juicy and flavorful! The consommé is a perfect consistency and has amazing flavor. When you combine both the egg roll and the sauce,  you have a delicious snack. It’s not shareable because let’s face it, it’s too good to share!

Next, we tried the brand-new Chocolate Firecracker! It’s made up of a light chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache filling, chocolate almond dacquoise, and popping candy featuring DOVE Dark Chocolate for $7.50.

We were worried this dessert was going to be too rich, but boy were we wrong! It was light, airy, gooey, and chocolatey. The outer shell is the perfect thickness, and the popping candies add a fun element to this yummy treat.

Now onto something to wash it down with! 

Drinks

There are two new cocktails at the Lucky 8 Lantern this year! To celebrate the Year of the Snake, we grabbed the Year of The Snake Margarita for $17.50. The drink consists of reposado tequila, lime juice, kiwi syrup, and mango purée garnished with a snake gummy! This sounds amazing but does it hold up?

This drink is TROUBLE! It tastes like a lime and mango limeade with a kick. The kiwi syrup adds an additional tang to this sweet drink. We would highly recommend this drink if you like margaritas!

If the margarita isn’t your speed, there’s also the Guava Lemongrass Cocktail for $17.00. The lemon grass cocktail has silver rum, guava nectar juice, house-made lemongrass syrup, and lime juice and is garnished with a lemon wheel.

Overall

So after trying it all, should you stop by the Lucky 8 Lantern booth this festival? YES! We would certainly recommend it. Everything we tried at this booth was fantastic. We think you’ll enjoy it from the food to the drinks.
