Hurricane Milton is currently being tracked by the National Hurricane Center as well as numerous local news sources in Florida.
The storm is currently a category 5 hurricane but is expected to make landfall along Florida’s west coast as a category 3 hurricane. This is good news for those living along the coast, but what about those who live further inland, particularly in Orlando? The track predictions for Hurricane Milton have changed slightly several times over the past few days, but let’s take a look at whether Orlando and Disney World can expect to be hit by the storm.

On the evening of Saturday, October 7th, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency for 35 Florida counties. Included in the list of counties was Orange County, which is the county that Orlando and Disney World sit in. It also included Osceola County, the other county that parts of Disney World are in.
As of 11AM ET on October 7th, Orange and Osceola Counties are in a hurricane watch. This is because the path of Hurricane Milton does include the Orlando area. While the track predictions have moved, going from more north to south and back again over the past several days, the current path, as of 11AM ET, shows it heading toward Orlando.

While the track may slightly change over the next day or two, it is likely that Orlando will be impacted to some extent. Strong winds and large amounts of rain are expected for the area.

If you are in the Orlando or Disney World areas, it has been encouraged that you begin preparations and for those in certain areas of Florida, evacuations are recommended. Check with the local officials for guidance in your area.
As for Disney World, no closure announcements have come out yet, though they are monitoring the storm closely. New hotel reservations for October 8th through October 10th have been halted and park pass reservations for October 9th are no longer available for those who need them. Disney World has also updated their hotel changes and cancelation policy through October 12th.
If you’re staying at Disney World this week, be sure to watch for announcements from Disney on the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website. Be sure to have your rain gear ready as rain has begun and is likely to continue throughout the week. Cast Members will be available for your assistance as needed.
