We’re expecting some severe weather in Florida today, and we’re here to share all the updates.
Hurricane Helene is heading for Florida, set to make landfall later this afternoon, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on conditions, especially for those traveling to Disney World. We’ve already reported some closures and adjusted park hours, but now there’s an additional weather warning that may cause some issues.

A tornado watch has been issued for 10 counties in east Central Florida, currently underway and lasting until 8PM on the evening of Thursday, September 26th. The counties included in this watch are Brevard, Indian River, Lake, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, St. Lucie, and Volusia.
These counties include many major cities (like Orlando), as well as the area that’s home to Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, and some other major attractions. So if you’re on vacation today, you’ll want to keep a close eye on your weather app to monitor the conditions.
In addition to the tornado watch, an Airport Weather Warning has been released for the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and the Orlando Executive Airport. This will last until 12:15AM on Friday, September 27th. The threat here is due to sustained surface winds of 25 knots or greater from the southeast and south.
So if you’re in the Central Florida area, we encourage you to keep a close eye on weather apps and the local news to see what’s affecting you specifically. For those on vacation at the theme parks, we’ll continue to monitor the park hours and conditions and let you know if anything changes.
If you’re heading to Disney World, keep in mind that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the miniature golf courses are also closed for the day. Due to the Halloween party cancelation, Magic Kingdom is set to stay open until 8PM this evening.
We’ll keep you in the loop with any updates, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest.
