During a recent visit to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, we spotted a closure that may impact transportation.

Fort Wilderness Entrance
Every once in a while, we run into transportation detours, delays, and cancelations. Back in the spring, all boat transportation to Disney Springs was temporarily closed due to low water levels and construction. Even special events like runDisney races can cause transportation disruptions, so we often recommend reading up on any ongoing construction or road closures before your trip. You don’t want to be caught off guard on your way to an important reservation, after all!
Recently, we spotted a detour at Fort Wilderness Resort. Part of the road was closed near the 600-1,000 loop of campsites, and orange cones were blocking the street.

We noticed a detour in the road!
According to a Disney World Cast Member, this was a multi-day closure, and there was no clear reopening date at the time of our visit. The issue appeared to be due to a leak of some kind, and we spotted several large puddles of water along the route.

This area is CLOSED
Cars, golf carts, and those walking to their campsites were directed to take an alternate pathway. According to Cast Member speculation, this closure may be related to a water main break, though Disney has not released any official comment about the detour.

The nearby pathway is closed, too!
For now, it seems like those staying on or near the campsites on Sunny Sage Way will need to take an alternate route. The internal bus has also been rerouted to accommodate this temporary closure.

Keep this in mind!
The good news is that during our visit, there were no apparent odor or safety concerns, so we’re hoping this issue will be fixed quickly!

The bus is still dropping people off!
