D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is right around the corner!

This sold-out event runs from August 9th through the 11th and is going to be full of MAJOR announcements, talks from Disney execs, celebrities, Imagineers, and so much more. We don’t have to wait much longer, and Disney just announced that the biggest panel will be livestreamed on…Fortnite?!

During this big event, we’re expecting Disney to share updates on projects like the Disneyland Forward project, the expansion beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom including the much-hyped Disney Villains-themed section, and more details on the Tropical Americas land at Animal Kingdom.

D23 is almost here!

The biggest Disney parks announcements will occur during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday, August 10th at the Honda Center!

At the Disney Experiences Showcase, we can expect some MAJOR parks news about Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disney Resort, and more. Past D23 events have brought us announcements like the DinoLand retheme and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Disney Parks Chair Josh D’Amaro will lead this event.

And, while we’ll be bringing you LIVE UPDATES from the parks panel so you know all about the biggest announcements, you’ll be able to catch a live stream recap — on Fortnite! Yep, you read that correctly. Disney has partnered with Fortnite creator Epic Games to bring a whole new (Disney) world to the game, and we’re expecting to hear more details about this partnership at the Disney Experiences Showcase.

And, you’ll be able to rewatch the announcements on August 10th — the virtual doors will open at 10:30ET with the stream starting at 11:30ET. You’ll be able to join the island from the Homebar in Discover (the top row) or by using island code 7908-6413-2516. Don’t mind us, just downloading Fortnite real quick…

Epic Games also shared that Disney Horizons Live from D23 will be around to stream on Fortnite until August 16th. To celebrate the announcements, all players who visit the island for 10 minutes will be granted the Peelverine Plush Back Bling* plus XP on August 16th.

The Disney and Epic Games collaboration is meant to build out a Disney universe that will be for gameplay, entertainment, AND shopping, and according to Disney, “represents our biggest foray into the game space ever.”

Based on the initial rendering of concept art shared by Disney we could expect to see the budding Fortnite partnership look like an online theme park with multiple Disney castles, a central hub surrounded by several islands populated with visual nods to familiar Disney IPs and franchises including MARVEL, Pixar, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox along with several others.

In addition to all of the brand-new information they’ll be dropping about upcoming projects, we’re sure we’ll see some never-before-seen footage, hear surprise announcements, see special guests, and learn about exclusive new content coming to theaters and Disney+. There’s also going to be the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony on August 11th where they will be honoring the 2024 class of Disney Legends at the Honda Center.
