Disney Cruise Line is hard at work creating brand-new ships for us to sail away on.
Two new ships are currently in development — the Disney Treasure and the Disney Destiny. The Disney Treasure has been getting built at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany since January 2023, while the Disney Destiny is only in the beginning stages of the process. Now, there has been a monumental update on the Disney Treasure’s construction in Germany!
On August 3rd, the Disney Treasure was officially moved out of the building at Meyer Werft Shipyard to the shipyard harbor! Minnie Mouse introduced the ship to many spectators who stood cheering as the ship floated out of the building.
With only 3 feet of wiggle room on either side of the ship, a tugboat pulled it out through the narrow doorway.
Now that the ship is in the harbor, it will receive the finishing touches to its interior venues. These venues include a Haunted Mansion Parlor, a Jungle Cruise lounge, the Periscope Pub, stage areas for live shows, several restaurants, kids clubs, and more!
The Disney Treasure, which will take its Maiden Voyage with passengers on December 21, 2024, will be the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. While the Disney Wish is known as Disney’s “Castle on the Seas,” the Disney Treasure will celebrate “Walt Disney’s lifelong love of adventure,” as announced in September 2022 by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro.
The Disney Treasure will have itineraries for the Eastern and Western Caribbean that include stops at Disney’s Castaway Cay. This new ship sounds like it is going to be tons of fun! You can head over to the Disney Cruise Line website to book your next cruise on the Disney Treasure.
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more updates on the Disney Treasure as it gets closer to making its transatlantic journey to Florida. We’ll likely be getting more updates on the Disney Destiny as the Treasure is completed, so keep following DFB for all your Disney news!
