EPCOT isn’t the only park that’s undergoing some renovations at Disney World.

We’re particularly excited about the MASSIVE expansion coming to Magic Kingdom, which includes a new bar inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean — we know, cool, right?! A permit was filed for construction in this area not too long ago, and now it looks like things are moving right along!

We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits filed by Disney to get an idea of what sort of changes could come to the parks, and this one is giving us a clue that the Pirates of the Caribbean bar coming to Magic Kingdom might be closer than we originally thought.

A new permit has been filed for Caribbean Plaza — the area between the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and Tortuga Tavern. It’s also known as Plaza del Sol Caribe thanks to the store of the same name right there. While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed that this will be the location of the new Pirates lounge, we think it’s the area that would make the most sense. And considering this isn’t the first permit we’ve found for this spot, it’s a pretty good bet. Anything could happen, though!

This most recent permit description is listed as “mechanical” work, and the contractor on the document is Siemens Industry, who often works in automation and electrification. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get more specific than that, but combined with the permits we’ve already found for this area of the park — we have a sneaking suspicion that we’re getting closer and closer to hearing an update about this new bar.

It’s possible Disney could reveal more at the D23 Expo this August — when fans and executives come together to celebrate all things Disney.

D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be held this year from August 9th through the 11th in Anaheim, California, and we are incredibly eager to attend! The fan expo draws crowds from all over the world and features appearances from Disney execs, celebrities, and Imagineers as the company dishes on upcoming entertainment, theme park developments, and more.
