The availability of one of our favorite Disney wait time tricks is dwindling for the year.
Waiting in long lines is as much a part of the Disney World experience as photos by Cinderella Castle and meeting Mickey Mouse. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to mitigate the wait. For example, Disney After Hours events used to be a great way to experience some of the resort’s best attractions with much shorter lines. Unfortunately, we’re running out of events for 2024…
According to Disney, After Hours events allow guests to “experience 3 extra hours at one of our theme parks.” Disney further expounds on the event, saying it allows guests to “explore one of our theme parks like never before—with lower wait times for attractions. In the midst of all the fun and festivities, take time to refuel with ice cream novelties, popcorn and select beverages—included with the cost of admission.”
While these hard-ticketed After Hours events technically run three hours beginning at 10PM, guests with tickets can begin entering the park at 7PM. This means that in theory, they can get a full extra three hours to begin enjoying the park’s attractions while regular day guests are likely having dinner and preparing to watch the fireworks, if not leaving for the day already.
In short, we love After Hours events. Unfortunately though, the amount of After Hours events left on the calendar this year is dwindling.
Between January 11th to June 27th, the Magic Kingdom calendar offered 15 After Hours events. As of this writing, there are only two left for the year: June 13th and June 27th, with tickets only available for the latter date.
Hollywood Studios calendar is offering 22 events in 2024, beginning on January 10th and running through August 29th. As of this writing, there are only 13 After Hours dates left at the park this year, all with tickets still available.
EPCOT’s calendar only has 13 After Hours events scheduled for 2024, beginning on February 2nd and running through July 18th. There are only five dates left as of this writing, with tickets still available for each.
Walt Disney World’s After Hours events provide a 6 hour (at its maximum) experience, half of which is in a mostly empty park. Unfortunately, the amount of 2024 dates left is quickly dwindling. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney After Hours event updates.
