Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has made some big changes recently, specifically when it comes to characters!
Russell and Dug from Up recently got their old meet-and-greet back in Discovery Island, and just a few days ago, Pocahontas, Goofy, and Pluto started meeting in the park again as well. However, with the return of all these character meet and greets, we’ve been mourning the loss of the old character flotillas that sailed the Discovery River. Because of all these changes, Animal Kingdom had to update its park map for the first time in over a YEAR!
During our most recent visit to Animal Kingdom, we spotted this new map on the stands at the front of the park!
When you open the front page, you’re greeted by the Alive with Magic spread, which includes some of Animal Kingdom’s biggest highlights. It mentions popular entertainment, character meets, dining, and animal experiences. It also gives a little guide to the My Disney Experience app.
The map itself is where we spotted the changes — there are new character meet-and-greet icons in DinoLand, U.S.A., and The Oasis. These mark the spots where Goofy, Pluto, and Pocahontas meet now.
The list of attractions, shopping, and dining options hasn’t changed and still includes the main offerings from each of the park’s six lands.
And on the very back, you’ll find the list of Park Rules. These are printed on all of the park maps as a general reminder to visitors.
So there you have it — that’s the brand-new park map at Animal Kingdom! We’ll keep you in the loop with any other changes at this park, so stay tuned to DFB.
