No one panic! But Walt Disney Studios just dropped a whole bunch of sneak peeks for upcoming movies!

While currently, only attendees at CinemaCon have seen most of them, we wanted to round up all the news from Walt Disney Studios’ presentation at CinemaCon 2024.

CinemaCon 2024 just wrapped up in Las Vegas after four days of programming and presentations. CinemaCon is the “largest and most important gathering for the worldwide motion picture theater industry.” This year the event took place from April 8th through April 11th, 2024. Numerous production companies including Warner Bros., Lionsgate, Universal Pictures, and more presented during the convention.

As well, Walt Disney Studios had their own presentation where we got a lot of sneak peeks of upcoming films. Walt Disney Studios had their presentation on April 11th, and they went over a lot with lots of special guests. Let’s take a look at what was covered by Walt Disney Studios at CinemaCon this year!

Moana 2

Dwayne Johnson joined a group of Hawaiian dancers and percussionists during the presentation to introduce a sneak peek at footage for Moana 2. Attendees even got to hear one of the new songs. Moana 2 is scheduled to release on November 27th, 2024.

Inside Out 2

The longest footage of the afternoon was for Inside Out 2. Walt Disney Studios premiered 35 minutes of footage. It is set to be released in theaters on June 14th, 2024. Amy Poehler joined the presentation and introduced the footage to the audience.

Mufasa: The Lion King

The director, Barry Jenkins, joined the presentation to share a first look at Mufasa: The Lion King. The film will be released in theaters on December 20th, 2024. The director said there will be plenty of new songs and that the movie is “full of heart.”

 

Captain America: Brave New World

Attendees got a look at footage from the new movie, which featured Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America. This movie is scheduled to release in theaters on February 14th, 2025. 

Deadpool & Wolverine

According to IGN, Walt Disney Studios premiered nine minutes of footage from the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie, as well as a sizzle reel with extended trailer footage. The movie will be release on July 26th, 2024. 

Young Woman and the Sea

A trailer was also played for Young Woman and the Sea. This film is a biographical drama about an Olympic champion, Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Ederie, who completed a 21-mile swim from France to England via the English Channel. You can view the trailer for this movie now! The film is scheduled to be release on May 31st, 2024.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

As well, Walt Disney Studios showed 13 minutes of footage from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 8th, 2024.

Alien: Romulus

A couple of scenes from Alien: Romulus were also shown. This film will be released in theaters on August 16th, 2024.

The Amateur

The final announcement from Walt Disney Studios was a sneak peek into a new film called The Amateur. It will star Rami Malek and follows a CIA cryptographer who blackmails the agency to get sent on a mission to kill the terrorists who murdered his wife. The film is scheduled to be released on April 11th, 2025.

Walt Disney Studios presented attendees with a lot of sneak peeks for upcoming films! While most of the footage has not been released outside of the convention, we are sure it will be released by Walt Disney Studios soon. We are excited for the line-up of movies coming this year and next!
