Most of us travel to Disney World via plane, and a lot of us fly into Orlando International Airport.
Now, we like to look for (and share) all the nonstop flights that fly into Orlando, plus we’re constantly searching for the best discounts. But there may be a NEW thing you will want to consider when flying to Disney World: frequent flier miles. Now, you might already be collecting miles, but did you know United Airlines will actually let you pool those miles with friends and family to book flights?
According to NBC 5, United Airlines is allowing you and up to four other MileagePlus members to pool your points together to redeem for flights and products. Note that this isn’t totally new: JetBlue and Frontier Airlines already do this, but with so many United flights to Orlando, this could be some game-changing information for a LOT of travelers.
Here’s how it works: a “pool leader” picks up to four other friends or family members to bring those points together in a joint account. Although leaders must be at least 18 years old, any age can use their miles in the joint account. Each person will still have their own MileagePlus account, so they decide how many points to put into the pool. Those points can be redeemed for flights, merchandise, and more through the United Airlines site or app. Note that once someone contributes points to the joint account, they are committed to it.
This could be a great option for those who travel less frequently to get together with friends and family who travel more often. Combining points could also help groups save on trips! That means more money for Genie+, Mickey bars, and Disney pins, right?
