ALERT: Hulu Will Crack Down on Password Sharing Starting Tomorrow

It’s become quite the trend for streaming services to crack down on password sharing.

Listen, we understand that not allowing password sharing means they can make more money with more subscriptions, but the change has proven to be very difficult for families with kids who travel to and from households, families with kids in college, etc. Regardless, these password-sharing crackdowns have continued, and we need to remind you that Hulu’s new terms go into effect tomorrow.

Back in February, Hulu announced that they would be following Disney+’s example in cracking down on password sharing on March 14th, which is tomorrow.

The email detailing the updated subscriber agreement said, “Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household.” The word ‘Household’ in this case means “the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein.”

Now, what happens if you break this agreement (aka, share your password)? Well, Hulu can “limit or terminate access to the Service and/or take any other steps as permitted” if they find the agreement has been violated.
