We love the My Disney Experience App … until we can’t stand it.
Now look, we love getting to see Disney World wait times in real-time no matter where we are in the world, and we love that we can Mobile Order our food ahead of time from so many different quick-service spots, and make reservations for table-service dining. But sometimes the app glitches, big time, and that’s caused some MAJOR problems for our readers on Facebook, so here’s how you can be prepared!
Constantly Being Logged Out
Consistently being logged out of My Disney Experience is quite the common occurrence, and it’s pretty annoying, especially when you’re trying to do something quickly.
This is especially true when you’re trying to grab Lightning Lanes throughout the day, or a Virtual Queue or Individual Lightning Lane at the beginning of the day. To combat this issue, we suggest logging into your My Disney Experience App at least 5 minutes before you’ll need to use it quickly (but not more than 10 minutes!) so you can ensure you’ll be signed in. Even better, just keep the app open on your phone and don’t let it fall asleep!
Here are our 5 top tips for snagging that virtual queue spot!
Virtual Queue or Individual Lightning Lane Disappearing
Many of you shared with us that they dealt with their spot in the virtual queue or their Individual Lightning Lane selection completely disappearing from the app! This is a big deal, and it means it may be really difficult to prove to a Cast Member that you did indeed have those reservations.
In this specific case, we had a reader tell us that they were informed by the Cast Member that the items hadn’t saved because of the age of their phones! We don’t have any research to back up this claim, but it is something to keep in mind if you’re going to Disney with an older phone. And we also recommend doing exactly what our reader did — take screenshots of all those reservations and plans you have in the app that you worked hard to get! This way, you have proof that you did snag that spot before it was filled up, or that you paid for the Individual Lightning Lane.

Dining Reservations Being Deleted Accidentally
Speaking of things disappearing, we also had multiple people share with us that they ran into their dining reservations disappearing in the app! This can also cause some pretty serious issues, especially if it’s a very coveted reservation that you successfully grabbed 60 days before your trip.
How to avoid this hassle? Again, just take those screenshots! And not just of the page saying you have the reservation, but also who’s included on the reservation, just in case it only kicks *some* of your party off (it’s happened!).

Couldn’t Get Into Their Rooms!
And last but most certainly not least, we have a nightmare that you may not have thought of. You know your MagicBand that you’ve connected to your app and it’s going to let you open your door without a key from the hotel? Guess what happens if the app won’t work?
Yep. Two of our readers shared with us that this horror story happened to them — the My Disney Experience App wasn’t working properly, which meant that their MagicBands wouldn’t let them into their rooms. One of them told us that after that experience, they ALWAYS get at least one key from the front desk during the beginning of their stay, just to ensure it doesn’t happen again. If this ever happens to you, don’t panic! Head down to the front desk right away and explain the situation. They’ll be able to issue you a keycard with no issues and you’ll be back in your room in no time.
All in all, when it doubt, take those screenshots and have them saved safely on your phone in case everything goes wrong! And remember, it’s not the Cast Members’ fault the app is down, so please be kind to them as they’re helping you with your needs. No one likes to be yelled at!
