Are you ready for a (temporary) McDonald’s makeover?

McDonald’s has a lot of big-ticket items on its 2024 agenda, but none may be bigger than its recently announced anime movement! Well, the day has finally come and the most popular fast-food chain on Earth has fully embraced the movement — including a name change!

Beginning February 26th, 2024, McDonald’s is rebranding as “WcDonald’s”, an ode to its fictional existence in the anime world. The temporary rebrand includes a new sauce, manga-inspired packaging, and weekly anime shorts.

The new sauce is the Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, which is billed as a “unique combination of ginger, garlic, and soy with a slight heat from chili flakes.” Try it out with an order of “WcNuggets”!

As for the packaging, McDonald’s teamed up with Japanese manga artist Acky Bright to design the new WcDonald’s look. Each packaging features a scannable code that will lead you to a weekly digital manga starring a full cast of WcDonald’s Customers and Crew — “including Hashirune, a WcDonald’s regular, Mr. Bev, the Crew jokester, WcDizer 3000 and WcDonald’s very own mecha.”

Additionally, every Monday from February 26th through March 18th, 2024, a new short and manga will be released. The shorts are made in partnership with famed anime studio, Studio Pierrot. The episodes include:

The Race to WcDonald’s (February 26th): “A rivalry strong enough to withstand the test of time as our two heroes embark on an epic race to WcDonald’s.”
Love from Across the Booth (March 4th): “Our two protagonists discover the WcDonald’s Sauce and WcNuggets aren’t the only perfect pairing.”
WcNuggets Space Frontier 3000 (March 11th): “A team of WcDonald’s pilots must protect the last WcNugget against an ominous force.”
The Wisdom of the Sauce (March 18th): “Three women are transported to a distant land to unravel the mystery surrounding the elusive sauce before it’s gone forever.”

The WcDonald’s brand will be available in over 30 McDonald’s markets worldwide for a limited time so be sure to visit your nearest McDonald’s before the fun is over!
