We're Terrified That Disney Is About To Take Away Our Favorite Shortcut in Magic Kingdom

Let us set the scene. You have exactly five minutes before your Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run expires, and you’re still on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. Uh-oh! Time to hustle.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

Of course, you can’t actually RUN through the park, so instead, you pick up the pace into fast-walk-foot-shuffle mode, a.k.a. “I need to get to TRON, but there’s a sea of people in my way, and it’s not socially acceptable to run through Magic Kingdom.” You know the move — we’ve all been there. Luckily, there is one handy dandy shortcut that never fails to SAVE the day.

We’re talking about the Tomorrowland Terrace shortcut! This breezeway is the unofficial “bridge” from Main Street, U.S.A. to Tomorrowland, and also acts as the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party location at night. It serves many purposes, but not the ACTUAL purpose it was originally designed for many, many years ago. This spot used to be a quick-service restaurant!

Nowadays, we use it as a shortcut to Tomorrowland and a place to sit and relax away from the crowds. It’s pretty handy! But what if it were to go away? Hear us out.

As we mentioned, this spot hasn’t acted as a quick-service location in YEARS. But the kitchen still exists (as far as we can tell), and the tables and seating never left. So, the possibility exists for Disney to turn this spot BACK into a restaurant. Or, who knows? Maybe they’ll completely TRANSFORM the space someday!

And while we love to daydream about Magic Kingdom changes and updates, there’s only one problem. When things disappear for refurbishment, something else appears in its place: construction walls. Just look at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (and a good portion of EPCOT), and you’ll see what we mean.

Now, let’s take you back to the Tomorrowland Terrace. If it were to close for refurbishment someday, our precious shortcut would also CLOSE! If you’ve ever been to Magic Kingdom, you know that shortcuts from land to land are few and far between, so we covet all those little paths and breezeways around the park. Don’t take away our favorite path to Tomorrowland, Disney!

Luckily, Disney hasn’t shared any plans to overhaul Tomorrowland Terrace, so for now, we’re safe. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
