If you seek thrills when you visit the Disney Parks, you’re in luck — Disney is making one of its most popular attractions even scarier!

Cinderella Castle in Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo DisneySea is primed for a big year in 2024 with the completion of its new Fantasy Springs expansion and the introduction of a new festival, but the fun doesn’t stop there. This week, it was also announced that the Japanese Disney Park would also get a massive update to one of its most iconic rides — Tower of Terror!
According to Disney, Tokyo DisneySea is making Tower of Terror a lot scarier! The theme park will run two new versions during set dates this year beginning January 9th, 2024 that will include more drops and scarier effects. Guests will then be polled and choose which version sticks until April 7th, 2024.
The first version of the ride, called “Tower of Terror: Level 13”, will run from January 9th through February 4th and will amp up the scare factor. Beginning February 5th, the next version, “Tower of Terror: Level 13 ‘Shadow of Siriki,'” will run until March 6th.
March 7th through April 7th will feature the version that received the most votes. Per Disney, “Voting details will be announced at a later date on the Tokyo Disney Resort official website.” More information about the ride change can be found by clicking here.
Along with the version in Tokyo, Tower of Terror is a staple at Disney Parks including Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Florida. Disney California used to have Tower of Terror but it was replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! in 2017. Especially compared to its U.S. counterparts, Tokyo’s Tower of Terror is much more mild so we’re excited that they’re trying something new!
